Conquest Narrative in the Bible

In the book of Numbers, Yahweh tells Moses to instruct the Israelites to drive out all the inhabitants of Canaan, to destroy their idols and religious high places, and to take possession of the land (Num 33:51–53). The goal of this conquest, according to the books of Deuteronomy, Joshua, and Judges, was to establish the Israelites as a cohesive nation in the promised land.
