Bull (פַּר, par). A male bovine; counted as property and offered as sacrifices (e.g., Gen 32:15; Exod 29; Judg 6:25). Bulls were associated with certain deities in the ancient Near East, such as Apis the Egyptian bull-god. At some temples, winged bull statues with human heads represented divine guardians.
