Psalm 80

To the chief Musician *upon Shoshannim-Eduth, A Psalm ||of Asaph.

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,

Thou that leadest aJoseph aalike a flock;

Thou that dwellest bbetween the cherubims, cshine forth.

dBefore Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh

eStir up thy strength,

And come and save us.

fTurn us again, O God,

gAnd cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

hO Lord God of hosts,

iHow long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Thou feedest them with kthe bread of tears;

And givest them tears to drink in great lmeasure.

Thou makest us a strife unto mour neighbours:

And our enemies laugh among themselves.

fTurn us again, O God of hosts,

And cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Thou hast brought na vine out of Egypt:

Thou hast ocast out the heathen, and pplanted it.

Thou qpreparedst room before it,

And didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

10  The hills were covered with the shadow of it,

And the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

11  She sent out her rboughs unto the sea,

And her sbranches tunto the river.

12  Why hast thou then ubroken down her hedges,

So uthat all they which pass by the way do xpluck her?

13  The boar yout of the wood doth waste it,

And zthe wild beast of the field doth devour it.

14  aReturn, we beseech thee, O God of hosts:

bLook down from heaven, and cbehold,

And visit this vine;

15  And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted,

And the dbranch that thou emadest strong for thyself.

16  It is fburned with fire, it is fcut down:

They perish gat the rebuke of thy countenance.

17  hLet thy hand be upon the man of ithy right hand,

Upon jthe son of man whom thou ehmadest strong for thyself.

18  So will not we go back from thee:

kQuicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19  lTurn us again, O Lord God of hosts,

Cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
