The term sōma (“body”) occurs in the Pauline letters a total of ninety-one times, with a rich diversity of meanings. The bulk of the references to sōma in the Pauline letters are expressions of the body/member(s) analogy, particularly as an image of a Christian congregation (notably in Rom 12:4–5; 1 Cor 10:16–17; 12:12–27).
