Psalm 147

How good it is to sing to our God,

for praise is pleasant and lovely.q

The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem;r

he gathers Israel’s exiled people.s

He heals the brokenhearted

and bandages their wounds.t

He counts the number of the stars;

he gives names to all of them.u

Our Lord is great, vast in power;

his understanding is infinite.D,v

The Lord helps the oppressed

but brings the wicked to the ground.w

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;

play the lyre to our God,x

who covers the sky with clouds,

prepares rain for the earth,

and causes grass to grow on the hills.y

He provides the animals with their food,

and the young ravens what they cry for.z

10 He is not impressed by the strength of a horse;

he does not value the power of a warrior.E,aa

11 The Lord values those who fear him,

those who put their hope in his faithful love.ab

12 Exalt the Lord, Jerusalem;

praise your God, Zion!ac

13 For he strengthens the bars of your city gates

and blesses your children within you.ad

14 He endows your territory with prosperity;F,ae

he satisfies you with the finest wheat.af

15 He sends his command throughout the earth;

his word runs swiftly.ag

16 He spreads snow like wool;

he scatters frost like ashes;ah

17 he throws his hailstones like crumbs.

Who can withstand his cold?ai

18 He sends his word and melts them;

he unleashes his winds,G and the water flows.aj

19 He declares his word to Jacob,

his statutes and judgments to Israel.ak

20 He has not done this for every nation;

they do not know his judgments.al

About Christian Standard Bible

The Christian Standard Bible (CSB) is a highly trustworthy, faithful translation that is proven to be the optimal blend of accuracy and readability. It’s as literal to the original as possible without sacrificing clarity. The CSB is poised to become the translation that pastors rely on and Bible readers turn to again and again to read and to share with others.

The CSB is an original translation: more than 100 scholars from 17 denominations translated directly from the best available Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic source texts into English. Its source texts are the standard used by scholars and seminaries today.

The CSB is trustworthy: the conservative, evangelical scholars of the CSB affirm the authority of Scripture as the inerrant Word of God and seek the highest level of faithfulness to the original and accuracy in their translation. These scholars and LifeWay, the non-profit ministry that stewards the CSB, also champion the Bible against cultural trends that would compromise its truths.

The CSB is clear: it is as literal a translation of the ancient source texts as possible, but, in the many places throughout Scripture where a word-for-word rendering might obscure the meaning for a modern audience, it uses a more dynamic translation. In all cases, the intent is to convey the original meaning of God’s Word as faithfully and as clearly as possible.
