3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was.

3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

3 Before the lamp of God had gone out, Samuel was lying down in the tabernacle of the Lord, where the ark of God was located.

3 Samuel was lying down in the Lord’s house. That’s where the ark of God was kept. The lamp of God was still burning.
