Jerusalem, Holy City of the Future

8 Again the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

a‘I am 1zealous for Zion with great 2zeal;

With great 3fervor I am zealous for her.’

“Thus says the Lord:

b‘I will return to Zion,

And cdwell in the midst of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem dshall be called the City of Truth,

eThe Mountain of the Lord of hosts,

fThe Holy Mountain.’

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:

g‘Old men and old women shall again sit

In the streets of Jerusalem,

Each one with his staff in his hand

Zechariah 8:1–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

The word of the Lord Almighty came to me.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her.”

This is what the Lord says: “I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.”

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”

Another message came to me from the Lord who rules over all. He said, “I am very jealous for my people in Zion. In fact, I am burning with jealousy for them.”

He continued, “I will return to Zion. I will live among my people in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called The City of Truth. And my mountain will be called The Holy Mountain.”

He continued, “Once again old men and women will sit in the streets of Jerusalem. All of them will be using canes because they are old. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls. They will be playing there.”
