Psalm 69:1–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

Save me, O God,

for the waters have come up to my neck.

I sink in the miry depths,

where there is no foothold.

I have come into the deep waters;

the floods engulf me.

I am worn out calling for help;

my throat is parched.

My eyes fail,

looking for my God.

Those who hate me without reason

outnumber the hairs of my head;

many are my enemies without cause,

those who seek to destroy me.

I am forced to restore

what I did not steal.

You, God, know my folly;

my guilt is not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Save me, O God!

For the waters have come up to my neck.

I sink in deep mire,

where there is no foothold;

I have come into deep waters,

and the flood sweeps over me.

I am weary with my crying out;

my throat is parched.

My eyes grow dim

with waiting for my God.

More in number than the hairs of my head

are those who hate me without cause;

mighty are those who would destroy me,

those who attack me with lies.

What I did not steal

must I now restore?

O God, you know my folly;

the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing:

I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried:

Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head:

They that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty:

Then I restored that which I took not away.

O God, thou knowest my foolishness;

And my sins are not hid from thee.

Psalm 69:1–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Save me, O God,

for the floodwaters are up to my neck.

Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire;

I can’t find a foothold.

I am in deep water,

and the floods overwhelm me.

I am exhausted from crying for help;

my throat is parched.

My eyes are swollen with weeping,

waiting for my God to help me.

Those who hate me without cause

outnumber the hairs on my head.

Many enemies try to destroy me with lies,

demanding that I give back what I didn’t steal.

O God, you know how foolish I am;

my sins cannot be hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

God, save me,

because the water has risen to my neck.

I’m sinking down into the mud,

and there is nothing to stand on.

I am in deep water,

and the flood covers me.

I am tired from calling for help;

my throat is sore.

My eyes are tired from waiting

for God to help me.

There are more people who hate me for no reason than hairs on my head;

powerful enemies want to destroy me for no reason.

They make me pay back

what I did not steal.

God, you know what I have done wrong;

I cannot hide my guilt from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Save me, O God;

For the waters are come in unto my soul.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing:

I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

I am weary with my crying; my throat is dried:

Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head:

They that would cut me off, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty:

That which I took not away I have to restore.

O God, thou knowest my foolishness;

And my sins are not hid from thee.

Psalm 69:1–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I am come into the depths of waters, and the flood overfloweth me. I am weary with my crying, my throat is parched; mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. Thou, O God, knowest my foolishness, and my trespasses are not hidden from thee.

Psalm 69:1–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Save me, O God!

The water is already up to my neck!

I am sinking in deep mud.

There is nothing to stand on.

I am in deep water.

A flood is sweeping me away.

I am exhausted from crying for help.

My throat is hoarse.

My eyes are strained ⸤from⸥ looking for my God.

Those who hate me for no reason

outnumber the hairs on my head.

Those who want to destroy me are mighty.

They have no reason to be my enemies.

I am forced to pay back what I did not steal.

O God, you know my stupidity,

and the things of which I am guilty are not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Save me, God,

for the water has risen to my neck.

I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no footing;

I have come into deep waters,

and a flood sweeps over me.

I am weary from my crying;

my throat is parched.

My eyes fail, looking for my God.

Those who hate me without cause

are more numerous than the hairs of my head;

my deceitful enemies, who would destroy me,

are powerful.

Though I did not steal, I must repay.

God, You know my foolishness,

and my guilty acts are not hidden from You.

Psalm 69:1–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Save me, O God,

for the waters have come up to my neck.

I sink in deep mire,

where there is no foothold;

I have come into deep waters,

and the flood sweeps over me.

I am weary with my crying;

my throat is parched.

My eyes grow dim

with waiting for my God.

More in number than the hairs of my head

are those who hate me without cause;

many are those who would destroy me,

my enemies who accuse me falsely.

What I did not steal

must I now restore?

O God, you know my folly;

the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Save me, O God,

because waters have come up to my neck.

I sink in the mud of the deep, and there is no foothold.

I have come to watery depths,

and the torrent floods over me.

I am weary with my calling out; my throat is parched.

My eyes are exhausted in my waiting for my God.

More numerous than the hairs of my head

are those hating me without a cause.

Those who are destroying me—my enemies wrongfully— are mighty.

What I did not steal, I then must restore.

O God, you yourself know my foolishness,

and my guilty deeds are not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

God, save me.

My troubles are like a flood.

I’m up to my neck in them.

I’m sinking in deep mud.

I have no firm place to stand.

I am out in deep water.

The waves roll over me.

I’m worn out from calling for help.

My throat is very dry.

My eyes grow tired

looking for my God.

Those who hate me without any reason

are more than the hairs on my head.

Many people who don’t have any reason to be my enemies

are trying to destroy me.

They force me to give back

what I didn’t steal.

God, you know how foolish I’ve been.

My guilt is not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:1–5 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Save me, O God,

For the waters have threatened my life.

I have sunk in deep mire, and there is no foothold;

I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me.

I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched;

My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head;

Those who would destroy me are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies;

What I did not steal, I then have to restore.

O God, it is You who knows my folly,

And my wrongs are not hidden from You.
