The Burnt Offering

1 Now the Lord acalled to Moses, and spoke to him bfrom the tabernacle of meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: c‘When any one of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock.

‘If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male dwithout blemish; he shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord.

Leviticus 1:1–3 — The New International Version (NIV)

The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When anyone among you brings an offering to the Lord, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock.

“ ‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.
