Jeremiah 31:21–23 — The New International Version (NIV)

21 “Set up road signs;

put up guideposts.

Take note of the highway,

the road that you take.

Return, Virgin Israel,

return to your towns.

22 How long will you wander,

unfaithful Daughter Israel?

The Lord will create a new thing on earth—

the woman will return to the man.”

23 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “When I bring them back from captivity, the people in the land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words: ‘The Lord bless you, you prosperous city, you sacred mountain.’

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — English Standard Version (ESV)

21 “Set up road markers for yourself;

make yourself guideposts;

consider well the highway,

the road by which you went.

Return, O virgin Israel,

return to these your cities.

22 How long will you waver,

O faithless daughter?

For the Lord has created a new thing on the earth:

a woman encircles a man.”

23 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes:

“ ‘The Lord bless you, O habitation of righteousness,

O holy hill!’

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

21 Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps:

Set thine heart toward the highway,

Even the way which thou wentest:

Turn again, O virgin of Israel,

Turn again to these thy cities.

22 How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter?

For the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth,

A woman shall compass a man.

23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel;

As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof,

When I shall bring again their captivity;

The Lord bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — New Living Translation (NLT)

21 Set up road signs;

put up guideposts.

Mark well the path

by which you came.

Come back again, my virgin Israel;

return to your towns here.

22 How long will you wander,

my wayward daughter?

For the Lord will cause something new to happen—

Israel will embrace her God.”

23 This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: “When I bring them back from captivity, the people of Judah and its towns will again say, ‘The Lord bless you, O righteous home, O holy mountain!’

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — New Century Version (NCV)

21 “People of Israel, fix the road signs.

Put up signs to show you the way home.

Watch the road.

Pay attention to the road on which you travel.

People of Israel, come home,

come back to your towns.

22 You are an unfaithful daughter.

How long will you wander before you come home?

The Lord has made something new happen in the land:

A woman will go seeking a man.”

23 The Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, says: “I will again do good things for the people of Judah. At that time the people in the land of Judah and its towns will again use these words: ‘May the Lord bless you, home of what is good, holy mountain.’

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — American Standard Version (ASV)

21 Set thee up waymarks, make thee guide-posts; set thy heart toward the highway, even the way by which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities. 22 How long wilt thou go hither and thither, O thou backsliding daughter? for Jehovah hath created a new thing in the earth: A woman shall encompass a man.

23 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Yet again shall they use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity: Jehovah bless thee, O habitation of righteousness, O mountain of holiness.

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

21 Set up landmarks!

Put up road signs!

Remember the highway, the road on which you traveled.

Come back, my dear people Israel, come back to your cities.

22 How long will you wander around, you unfaithful people?

The Lord will create something new on earth:

A woman will protect a man.

23 This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: When I have brought them back from captivity, they will once again use this saying in Judah and in its cities:

“The Lord bless you, home of righteousness, holy mountain.”

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

21 Set up road markers for yourself;

establish signposts!

Keep the highway in mind,

the way you have traveled.

Return, Virgin Israel!

Return to these cities of yours.

22 How long will you turn here and there,

faithless daughter?

For the Lord creates something new in the land —

a female will shelter a man.

23 This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “When I restore their fortunes, they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities, ‘May the Lord bless you, righteous settlement, holy mountain.’

Jeremiah 31:21–23 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

make yourself guideposts;

consider well the highway,

the road by which you went.

O faithless daughter?

For the Lord has created a new thing on the earth:

a woman encompasses a man.

23 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its towns when I restore their fortunes:

return to these your cities.

22 How long will you waver, O unfaithful daughter?

For Yahweh has created a new thing on the earth,

a woman, she shelters a man.”

23 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “They will again say these words in the land of Judah and in its towns at my restoring their fortunes,

‘Yahweh bless you, O settlement of righteousness,

O hill of holiness.’

Return, people of Israel.

Return to your towns.

22 How long will you wander,

you people who are not faithful to me?

I will create a new thing on earth.

A woman will guard a man.”

23 The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says, “I will bring them back from the place where they were taken. The people in Judah and its towns will say once again, ‘Holy temple in Jerusalem, may the Lord bless you. Sacred mountain, may he bless you.’

O faithless daughter?

For the Lord has created a new thing in the earth

A woman will encompass a man.”
