Jeremiah 23:14

14 Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem:

wThey commit adultery and walk in lies;

They also xstrengthen the hands of evildoers,

So that no one turns back from his wickedness.

All of them are like ySodom to Me,

And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 — The New International Version (NIV)

14 And among the prophets of Jerusalem

I have seen something horrible:

They commit adultery and live a lie.

They strengthen the hands of evildoers,

so that not one of them turns from their wickedness.

They are all like Sodom to me;

the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”

Jeremiah 23:14 — English Standard Version (ESV)

14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem

I have seen a horrible thing:

they commit adultery and walk in lies;

they strengthen the hands of evildoers,

so that no one turns from his evil;

all of them have become like Sodom to me,

and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”

Jeremiah 23:14 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing:

They commit adultery, and walk in lies:

They strengthen also the hands of evildoers,

That none doth return from his wickedness:

They are all of them unto me as Sodom,

And the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 — New Living Translation (NLT)

14 But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse!

They commit adultery and love dishonesty.

They encourage those who are doing evil

so that no one turns away from their sins.

These prophets are as wicked

as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were.”

Jeremiah 23:14 — New Century Version (NCV)

14 And I have seen the prophets of Jerusalem

do terrible things.

They are guilty of adultery

and live by lies.

They encourage evil people to keep on doing evil,

so the people don’t stop sinning.

All of those people are like the city of Sodom.

The people of Jerusalem are like the city of Gomorrah to me!”

Jeremiah 23:14 — American Standard Version (ASV)

14 In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evil-doers, so that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

14 And in the prophets of Jerusalem have I seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in falsehood, and strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none doth return from his wickedness. They are all become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

14 “⸤Say this⸥ about the prophets of Jerusalem:

I see something horrible.

The prophets of Jerusalem commit adultery and live a lie.

They support those who do evil

so that no one turns back from his wickedness.

They are all like Sodom to me,

and those who live in Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”

Jeremiah 23:14 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

14 Among the prophets of Jerusalem also

I saw a horrible thing:

They commit adultery and walk in lies.

They strengthen the hands of evildoers,

and none turns his back on evil.

They are all like Sodom to Me;

Jerusalem’s residents are like Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem

I have seen a more shocking thing:

they commit adultery and walk in lies;

they strengthen the hands of evildoers,

so that no one turns from wickedness;

all of them have become like Sodom to me,

and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

14 And in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible.

They commit adultery, and they walk in lies,

and they make strong the hands of evildoers,

so that they have not turned back each from his wickedness.

All of them have become to me like Sodom,

and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”

Jeremiah 23:14 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

14 I have also seen something horrible among Jerusalem’s prophets.

They are not faithful to me.

They are not living by the truth.

They strengthen the hands of those who do evil.

So the people do not turn from their sinful ways.

All of them are like the people of Sodom to me.

They are just like the people of Gomorrah.”

Jeremiah 23:14 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

14 “Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing:

The committing of adultery and walking in falsehood;

And they strengthen the hands of evildoers,

So that no one has turned back from his wickedness.

All of them have become to Me like Sodom,

And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:32 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the Lord, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord.

Jeremiah 23:32 — New Living Translation (NLT)

32 I am against these false prophets. Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin. I did not send or appoint them, and they have no message at all for my people. I, the Lord have spoken!

Jeremiah 23:32 — New Century Version (NCV)

32 I am against the prophets who prophesy false dreams,” says the Lord. “They mislead my people with their lies and false teachings! I did not send them or command them to do anything for me. They can’t help the people of Judah at all,” says the Lord.

Jeremiah 23:32 — American Standard Version (ASV)

32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy lying dreams, saith Jehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I sent them not, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, saith Jehovah.

Jeremiah 23:32 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Jeremiah 23:32 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

32 I’m against those who prophesy dreams they made up,” declares the Lord. “They tell the dreams they made up and lead my people astray with their lies and their wild talk. I didn’t send them or command them to go. They don’t help these people at all,” declares the Lord

Jeremiah 23:32 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

32 I am against those who prophesy false dreams” —the Lord’s declaration—“telling them and leading My people astray with their falsehoods and their boasting. It was not I who sent or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people”—this is the Lord’s declaration.

Jeremiah 23:32 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

32 See, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, says the Lord, and who tell them, and who lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or appoint them; so they do not profit this people at all, says the Lord.

Jeremiah 23:32 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

32 Look, I am against those who prophesy dreams of lies,” declares Yahweh, “and tell them, and they caused my people to err through their lies, and in their recklessness, when I myself have not sent them nor commanded them, so they profit not this people at all,” declares Yahweh.

Jeremiah 23:32 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

32 I am against prophets who talk about dreams that did not come from me,” announces the Lord. “They tell foolish lies. Their lies lead my people down the wrong path.

“But I did not send those prophets. I did not appoint them. They do not help my people in the least,” announces the Lord.

Jeremiah 23:32 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

32 Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the Lord, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.
