Isaiah 1:2–3 — The New International Version (NIV)

Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth!

For the Lord has spoken:

“I reared children and brought them up,

but they have rebelled against me.

The ox knows its master,

the donkey its owner’s manger,

but Israel does not know,

my people do not understand.”

Isaiah 1:2–3 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth;

for the Lord has spoken:

“Children have I reared and brought up,

but they have rebelled against me.

The ox knows its owner,

and the donkey its master’s crib,

but Israel does not know,

my people do not understand.”

Isaiah 1:2–3 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth:

For the Lord hath spoken,

I have nourished and brought up children,

And they have rebelled against me.

The ox knoweth his owner,

And the ass his master’s crib:

But Israel doth not know,

My people doth not consider.

Isaiah 1:2–3 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, earth!

This is what the Lord says:

“The children I raised and cared for

have rebelled against me.

Even an ox knows its owner,

and a donkey recognizes its master’s care—

but Israel doesn’t know its master.

My people don’t recognize my care for them.”

Isaiah 1:2–3 — New Century Version (NCV)

Heaven and earth, listen,

because the Lord is speaking:

“I raised my children and helped them grow up,

but they have turned against me.

An ox knows its master,

and a donkey knows where its owner feeds it,

but the people of Israel do not know me;

my people do not understand.”

Isaiah 1:2–3 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for Jehovah hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib; but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

Isaiah 1:2–3 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Hear, ye heavens, and give ear, thou earth! for Jehovah hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children; and they have rebelled against me. The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib; Israel doth not know, my people hath no intelligence.

Isaiah 1:2–3 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Listen, heaven, and pay attention, earth!

The Lord has spoken,

“I raised ⸤my⸥ children and helped them grow,

but they have rebelled against me.

Oxen know their owners,

and donkeys know where their masters feed them.

But Israel doesn’t know ⸤its owner⸥.

My people don’t understand ⸤who feeds them⸥.

Isaiah 1:2–3 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Listen, heavens, and pay attention, earth,

for the Lord has spoken:

“I have raised children and brought them up,

The ox knows its owner,

and the donkey its master’s feeding trough,

but Israel does not know;

My people do not understand.”

Isaiah 1:2–3 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth;

for the Lord has spoken:

I reared children and brought them up,

but they have rebelled against me.

The ox knows its owner,

and the donkey its master’s crib;

but Israel does not know,

my people do not understand.

Isaiah 1:2–3 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Hear, heavens,

and listen, earth,

for Yahweh has spoken:

“I reared children

and I brought them up,

but they rebelled against me.

An ox knows its owner

and a donkey the manger of its master.

Israel does not know;

my people do not understand.

Isaiah 1:2–3 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Listen to me, heavens! Pay attention to me, earth!

The Lord has said,

“I raised children. I brought them up.

But they have refused to obey me.

The ox knows its master.

The donkey knows where its owner feeds it.

But Israel does not know me.

My people do not understand me.”

Isaiah 1:2–3 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth;

For the Lord speaks,

Sons I have reared and brought up,

But they have revolted against Me.

“An ox knows its owner,

And a donkey its master’s manger,

But Israel does not know,

My people do not understand.”
