Hosea 7:11–12 — The New International Version (NIV)

11 “Ephraim is like a dove,

easily deceived and senseless—

now calling to Egypt,

now turning to Assyria.

12 When they go, I will throw my net over them;

I will pull them down like the birds in the sky.

When I hear them flocking together,

I will catch them.

Hosea 7:11–12 — English Standard Version (ESV)

11 Ephraim is like a dove,

silly and without sense,

calling to Egypt, going to Assyria.

12 As they go, I will spread over them my net;

I will bring them down like birds of the heavens;

I will discipline them according to the report made to their congregation.

Hosea 7:11–12 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

11 Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart:

They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

12 When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them;

I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven;

I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

Hosea 7:11–12 — New Living Translation (NLT)

11 “The people of Israel have become like silly, witless doves,

first calling to Egypt, then flying to Assyria for help.

12 But as they fly about,

I will throw my net over them

and bring them down like a bird from the sky.

I will punish them for all the evil they do.

Hosea 7:11–12 — New Century Version (NCV)

11 Israel has become like a pigeon—

easy to fool and stupid.

First they call to Egypt for help.

Then they run to Assyria.

12 When they go, I will catch them in a net,

I will bring them down like birds from the sky;

I will punish them countless times for their evil.

Hosea 7:11–12 — American Standard Version (ASV)

11 And Ephraim is like a silly dove, without understanding: they call unto Egypt, they go to Assyria. 12 When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the heavens; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

Hosea 7:11–12 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

11 And Ephraim is become like a silly dove without understanding: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. 12 When they go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowl of the heavens; I will chastise them, according as their assembly hath heard.

Hosea 7:11–12 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

11 Ephraim, you are like a silly, senseless dove.

You call for Egypt and run to Assyria for help.

12 When you go, I will spread my net over you.

I will snatch you out of the air like a bird.

I will punish you for all the evil things you have done.

Hosea 7:11–12 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

11 So Ephraim has become like a silly, senseless dove;

they call to Egypt, and they go to Assyria.

12 As they are going, I will spread My net over them;

I will bring them down like birds of the sky.

I will discipline them in accordance

with the news that reaches their assembly.

Hosea 7:11–12 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

11 Ephraim has become like a dove,

silly and without sense;

they call upon Egypt, they go to Assyria.

12 As they go, I will cast my net over them;

I will bring them down like birds of the air;

I will discipline them according to the report made to their assembly.

Hosea 7:11–12 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

11 Ephraim was like a dove,

silly, without sense;

they call to Egypt,

they go to Assyria.

12 Just as they go, I will cast my net

over them;

I will bring them down

like the birds of the heavens;

I will discipline them

according to a report to their assembly.

Hosea 7:11–12 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

11 The Lord says,

“The people of Ephraim are like a dove.

They are easily tricked.

They do not have any sense at all.

First they call out to Egypt for help.

Then they turn to Assyria.

12 When they send for help,

I will throw my net over them.

I will capture them like birds of the air.

I will punish them,

just as I warned them I would.

Hosea 7:11–12 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

11 So Ephraim has become like a silly dove, without sense;

They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

12 When they go, I will spread My net over them;

I will bring them down like the birds of the sky.

I will chastise them in accordance with the proclamation to their assembly.
