Amos 5:11 — The New International Version (NIV)

11 You levy a straw tax on the poor

Therefore, though you have built stone mansions,

you will not live in them;

though you have planted lush vineyards,

you will not drink their wine.

Amos 5:11 — English Standard Version (ESV)

11 Therefore because you trample on the poor

and you exact taxes of grain from him,

you have built houses of hewn stone,

but you shall not dwell in them;

you have planted pleasant vineyards,

but you shall not drink their wine.

Amos 5:11 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor,

And ye take from him burdens of wheat:

Ye have built houses of hewn stone,

But ye shall not dwell in them;

Ye have planted pleasant vineyards,

But ye shall not drink wine of them.

Amos 5:11 — New Living Translation (NLT)

11 You trample the poor,

stealing their grain through taxes and unfair rent.

Therefore, though you build beautiful stone houses,

you will never live in them.

Though you plant lush vineyards,

you will never drink wine from them.

Amos 5:11 — New Century Version (NCV)

11 You walk on poor people,

forcing them to give you grain.

You have built fancy houses of cut stone,

but you will not live in them.

You have planted beautiful vineyards,

but you will not drink the wine from them.

Amos 5:11 — American Standard Version (ASV)

11 Forasmuch therefore as ye trample upon the poor, and take exactions from him of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink the wine thereof.

Amos 5:11 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

11 Forasmuch, therefore, as ye trample upon the poor, and take from him presents of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, and ye shall not drink the wine of them.

Amos 5:11 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

11 You trample on the poor

and take their wheat from them for taxes.

That is why you build houses from hand-cut stones,

but you will not live in them.

You plant beautiful vineyards,

but you will not drink their wine.

Amos 5:11 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

11 Therefore, because you trample on the poor

and exact a grain tax from him,

you will never live in the houses of cut stone

you have built;

you will never drink the wine

from the lush vineyards

you have planted.

Amos 5:11 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

11 Therefore because you trample on the poor

and take from them levies of grain,

you have built houses of hewn stone,

but you shall not live in them;

you have planted pleasant vineyards,

but you shall not drink their wine.

Amos 5:11 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

11 Therefore, because you trample on the poor and you take a grain tax from them, you built houses of dressed stone, but you will not live in them. You built vineyards of delightfulness, but you will not drink their wine.

Amos 5:11 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

11 You walk all over poor people.

You make them give you grain.

You have built stone houses.

But you won’t live in them.

You have planted fruitful vineyards.

But you won’t drink the wine they produce.

Amos 5:11 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

11 Therefore because you impose heavy rent on the poor

And exact a tribute of grain from them,

Though you have built houses of well-hewn stone,

Yet you will not live in them;

You have planted pleasant vineyards, yet you will not drink their wine.
