And it came to pass at that time, while Eli was lying down in his place, and when his eyes had begun to grow cso dim that he could not see, and before dthe lamp of God went out in the 1tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of God was, and while Samuel was lying down, that the Lord called Samuel. One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called Samuel.

Samuel answered, “Here I am.”
