Psalm 88:3–5 — English Standard Version (ESV)

For my soul is full of troubles,

and my life draws near to Sheol.

I am counted among those who go down to the pit;

I am a man who has no strength,

like one set loose among the dead,

like the slain that lie in the grave,

like those whom you remember no more,

for they are cut off from your hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

For my soul is full of troubles:

And my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

I am counted with them that go down into the pit:

I am as a man that hath no strength:

Free among the dead,

Like the slain that lie in the grave,

Whom thou rememberest no more:

And they are cut off from thy hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

For my life is full of troubles,

and death draws near.

I am as good as dead,

like a strong man with no strength left.

They have left me among the dead,

and I lie like a corpse in a grave.

I am forgotten,

cut off from your care.

Psalm 88:3–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

For my soul is full of troubles,

And my life draws near to the grave.

I am counted with those who go down to the pit;

I am like a man who has no strength,

Adrift among the dead,

Like the slain who lie in the grave,

Whom You remember no more,

And who are cut off from Your hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

My life is full of troubles,

and I am nearly dead.

They think I am on the way to my grave.

I am like a man with no strength.

I have been left as dead,

like a body lying in a grave

whom you don’t remember anymore,

cut off from your care.

Psalm 88:3–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

For my soul is full of troubles,

And my life draweth nigh unto Sheol.

I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit;

I am as a man that hath no help,

Cast off among the dead,

Like the slain that lie in the grave,

Whom thou rememberest no more,

And they are cut off from thy hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draweth nigh to Sheol. I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no strength: Prostrate among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave; whom thou rememberest no more, and who are cut off from thy hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

My soul is filled with troubles,

and my life comes closer to the grave.

I am numbered with those who go into the pit.

I am like a man without any strength—

abandoned with the dead,

like those who have been killed and lie in graves,

like those whom you no longer remember,

who are cut off from your power.

Psalm 88:3–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

For I have had enough troubles,

and my life is near Sheol.

I am counted among those going down to the Pit.

I am like a man without strength,

abandoned among the dead.

I am like the slain lying in the grave,

whom You no longer remember,

and who are cut off from Your care.

Psalm 88:3–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

For my soul is full of troubles,

and my life draws near to Sheol.

I am counted among those who go down to the Pit;

I am like those who have no help,

like those forsaken among the dead,

like the slain that lie in the grave,

like those whom you remember no more,

for they are cut off from your hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

For my soul is full with troubles,

and my life approaches Sheol.

I am reckoned with those descending to the pit.

I am like a man without strength,

set free among the dead,

like the slain lying in the grave,

whom you no longer remember,

even those cut off from your hand.

Psalm 88:3–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

I have so many troubles

I’m about to die.

People think my life is over.

I’m like someone who doesn’t have any strength.

People treat me as if I were dead.

I’m like those who have been killed and are now in the grave.

You don’t even remember them anymore.

They are cut off from your care.

Psalm 88:3–5 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

For my soul has had enough troubles,

And my life has drawn near to Sheol.

I am reckoned among those who go down to the pit;

I have become like a man without strength,

Forsaken among the dead,

Like the slain who lie in the grave,

Whom You remember no more,

And they are cut off from Your hand.
