Psalm 83:13–18 — English Standard Version (ESV)

13 O my God, make them like whirling dust,

like chaff before the wind.

14 As fire consumes the forest,

as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,

15 so may you pursue them with your tempest

and terrify them with your hurricane!

16 Fill their faces with shame,

that they may seek your name, O Lord.

17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever;

let them perish in disgrace,

18 that they may know that you alone,

whose name is the Lord,

are the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

13 O my God, make them like a wheel;

As the stubble before the wind.

14 As the fire burneth a wood,

And as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

15 So persecute them with thy tempest,

And make them afraid with thy storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame;

That they may seek thy name, O Lord.

17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever;

Yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH,

Art the most high over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — New Living Translation (NLT)

13 O my God, scatter them like tumbleweed,

like chaff before the wind!

14 As a fire burns a forest

and as a flame sets mountains ablaze,

15 chase them with your fierce storm;

terrify them with your tempest.

16 Utterly disgrace them

until they submit to your name, O Lord.

17 Let them be ashamed and terrified forever.

Let them die in disgrace.

18 Then they will learn that you alone are called the Lord,

that you alone are the Most High,

supreme over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

13 O my God, make them like the whirling dust,

Like the chaff before the wind!

14 As the fire burns the woods,

And as the flame sets the mountains on fire,

15 So pursue them with Your tempest,

And frighten them with Your storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame,

That they may seek Your name, O Lord.

17 Let them be confounded and dismayed forever;

Yes, let them be put to shame and perish,

18 That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord,

Are the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — New Century Version (NCV)

13 My God, make them like tumbleweed,

like chaff blown away by the wind.

14 Be like a fire that burns a forest

or like flames that blaze through the hills.

15 Chase them with your storm,

and frighten them with your wind.

16 Cover them with shame.

Then people will look for you, Lord.

17 Make them afraid and ashamed forever.

Disgrace them and destroy them.

18 Then they will know that you are the Lord,

that only you are God Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — American Standard Version (ASV)

13 O my God, make them like the whirling dust;

As stubble before the wind.

14 As the fire that burneth the forest,

And as the flame that setteth the mountains on fire,

15 So pursue them with thy tempest,

And terrify them with thy storm.

16 Fill their faces with confusion,

That they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.

17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed for ever;

Yea, let them be confounded and perish;

18 That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah,

Art the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

13 O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind. 14 As fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire, 15 So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind. 16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah. 17 Let them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish: 18 That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

13 O my God, blow them away like tumbleweeds,

like husks in the wind.

14 Pursue them with your storms,

and terrify them with your windstorms

15 the way fire burns a forest

and flames set mountains on fire.

16 Let their faces blush with shame, O Lord

so that they must look to you for help.

17 Let them be put to shame and terrified forever.

Let them die in disgrace

18 so that they must acknowledge you.

Your name is the Lord

You alone are the Most High God of the whole earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,

like straw before the wind.

14 As fire burns a forest,

as a flame blazes through mountains,

15 so pursue them with Your tempest

and terrify them with Your storm.

16 Cover their faces with shame

so that they will seek Your name Yahweh.

17 Let them be put to shame and terrified forever;

let them perish in disgrace.

18 May they know that You alone—

whose name is Yahweh—

are the Most High over all the earth.

16 Fill their faces with shame,

so that they may seek your name, O Lord.

17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever;

whose name is the Lord,

are the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

13 O my God, make them like the tumbleweed,

like the chaff before wind.

and as a flame sets afire mountains,

15 so pursue them with your tempest

and terrify them with your storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame,

that they may seek your name, O Yahweh.

17 Let them be ashamed and terrified forever,

and let them be humiliated and perish

18 that they may know that you,

whose name is Yahweh, you alone,

are the Most High over the whole earth.

Psalm 83:13–18 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

13 My God, make them like straw that the wind blows away.

Make them like tumbleweed.

14 Destroy them as fire burns up a forest.

Destroy them as a flame sets mountains on fire.

15 Chase them with your mighty winds.

Terrify them with your storm.

16 Lord, put them to shame

so that people will worship you.

17 May they always be filled with terror and shame.

May they die in dishonor.

18 Your name is the Lord. Let them know

that you alone are the Most High God over the whole earth.

That they may seek Your name, O Lord.

And let them be humiliated and perish,

18 That they may know that You alone, whose name is the Lord,

Are the Most High over all the earth.
