For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach,

For zeal for your house has consumed me,

and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.

For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up;

And the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Psalm 69:7–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

For I endure insults for your sake;

Psalm 69:7–9 — New Century Version (NCV)

For you, I carry this shame,

When people insult you, it hurts me.

Psalm 69:7–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach;

And the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me.

Psalm 69:7–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Psalm 69:7–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Indeed, for your sake I have endured insults.

Humiliation has covered my face.

I have become a stranger to my ⸤own⸥ brothers,

a foreigner to my mother’s sons.

Indeed, devotion for your house has consumed me,

and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.

Psalm 69:7–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

For I have endured insults because of You,

and the insults of those who insult You

have fallen on me.

Psalm 69:7–9 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

It is for your sake that I have borne reproach,

the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.

Psalm 69:7–9 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Because on account of you I have borne reproach;

disgrace has covered my face.

Because of you, people laugh at me.

My face is covered with shame.

I’m a stranger to my brothers.

My great love for your house destroys me.

Those who make fun of you make fun of me also.

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach;

Dishonor has covered my face.
