Psalm 102:1–7 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Hear my prayer, O Lord;

let my cry come to you!

Do not hide your face from me

in the day of my distress!

Incline your ear to me;

answer me speedily in the day when I call!

For my days pass away like smoke,

and my bones burn like a furnace.

My heart is struck down like grass and has withered;

I forget to eat my bread.

Because of my loud groaning

my bones cling to my flesh.

I am like a desert owl of the wilderness,

like an owl of the waste places;

I lie awake;

I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.

Psalm 102:1–7 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Hear my prayer, O Lord,

And let my cry come unto thee.

Hide not thy face from me

In the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me:

In the day when I call answer me speedily.

For my days are consumed like smoke,

And my bones are burned as an hearth.

My heart is smitten, and withered like grass;

So that I forget to eat my bread.

By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.

I am like a pelican of the wilderness:

I am like an owl of the desert.

I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

Psalm 102:1–7 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Lord, hear my prayer!

Listen to my plea!

Don’t turn away from me

in my time of distress.

Bend down to listen,

and answer me quickly when I call to you.

For my days disappear like smoke,

and my bones burn like red-hot coals.

My heart is sick, withered like grass,

and I have lost my appetite.

Because of my groaning,

I am reduced to skin and bones.

I am like an owl in the desert,

like a little owl in a far-off wilderness.

I lie awake,

lonely as a solitary bird on the roof.

Psalm 102:1–7 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Hear my prayer, O Lord,

And let my cry come to You.

Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble;

Incline Your ear to me;

In the day that I call, answer me speedily.

For my days are consumed like smoke,

And my bones are burned like a hearth.

My heart is stricken and withered like grass,

So that I forget to eat my bread.

Because of the sound of my groaning

My bones cling to my skin.

I am like a pelican of the wilderness;

I am like an owl of the desert.

I lie awake,

And am like a sparrow alone on the housetop.

Psalm 102:1–7 — New Century Version (NCV)

Lord, listen to my prayer;

let my cry for help come to you.

Do not hide from me

in my time of trouble.

Pay attention to me.

When I cry for help, answer me quickly.

My life is passing away like smoke,

and my bones are burned up with fire.

My heart is like grass

that has been cut and dried.

I forget to eat.

Because of my grief,

my skin hangs on my bones.

I am like a desert owl,

like an owl living among the ruins.

I lie awake.

I am like a lonely bird on a housetop.

Psalm 102:1–7 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Hear my prayer, O Jehovah,

And let my cry come unto thee.

Hide not thy face from me in the day of my distress:

Incline thine ear unto me;

In the day when I call answer me speedily.

For my days consume away like smoke,

And my bones are burned as a firebrand.

My heart is smitten like grass, and withered;

For I forget to eat my bread.

By reason of the voice of my groaning

My bones cleave to my flesh.

I am like a pelican of the wilderness;

I am become as an owl of the waste places.

I watch, and am become like a sparrow

That is alone upon the house-top.

Psalm 102:1–7 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Jehovah, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me: in the day of my trouble, incline thine ear unto me; in the day I call, answer me speedily. For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand. My heart is smitten and withered like grass; yea, I have forgotten to eat my bread. By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones cleave to my flesh. I am become like the pelican of the wilderness, I am as an owl in desolate places; I watch, and am like a sparrow alone upon the housetop.

Psalm 102:1–7 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

O Lord, hear my prayer,

and let my cry for help come to you.

Do not hide your face from me when I am in trouble.

Turn your ear toward me.

Answer me quickly when I call.

My days disappear like smoke.

My bones burn like hot coals.

My heart is beaten down and withered like grass

because I have forgotten about eating.

I am nothing but skin and bones

because of my loud groans.

I am like a desert owl,

like an owl living in the ruins.

I lie awake.

I am like a lonely bird on a rooftop.

Psalm 102:1–7 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Lord, hear my prayer;

let my cry for help come before You.

Do not hide Your face from me in my day of trouble.

Listen closely to me;

answer me quickly when I call.

For my days vanish like smoke,

and my bones burn like a furnace.

My heart is afflicted, withered like grass;

I even forget to eat my food.

Because of the sound of my groaning,

my flesh sticks to my bones.

I am like a desert owl,

like an owl among the ruins.

I stay awake;

I am like a solitary bird on a roof.

Psalm 102:1–7 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Hear my prayer, O Lord;

let my cry come to you.

Do not hide your face from me

in the day of my distress.

Incline your ear to me;

answer me speedily in the day when I call.

For my days pass away like smoke,

and my bones burn like a furnace.

My heart is stricken and withered like grass;

I am too wasted to eat my bread.

Because of my loud groaning

my bones cling to my skin.

I am like an owl of the wilderness,

like a little owl of the waste places.

I lie awake;

I am like a lonely bird on the housetop.

Psalm 102:1–7 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

O Yahweh, hear my prayer,

and let my cry for help come to you.

Do not hide your face from me

in the day of my trouble.

Incline your ear to me.

In the day I call, answer me quickly,

for my days vanish in smoke,

and my bones are charred like a hearth.

My heart is struck like grass and withers.

Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.

Because of the sound of my groaning

my bones cling to my skin.

I am like an owl of the wilderness;

I am like a little owl of the ruins.

I lie awake and I am

like a lone bird on a roof.

Psalm 102:1–7 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Lord, hear my prayer.

Listen to my cry for help.

Don’t turn your face away from me

when I’m in trouble.

Pay attention to me.

When I call out for help, answer me quickly.

My days are disappearing like smoke.

My body burns like glowing coals.

My strength has dried up like grass.

I even forget to eat my food.

I groan out loud because of my suffering.

I’m nothing but skin and bones.

I’m like a desert owl.

I’m like an owl among destroyed buildings.

I can’t sleep. I’ve become

like a bird alone on a roof.

Psalm 102:1–7 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Hear my prayer, O Lord!

And let my cry for help come to You.

Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress;

Incline Your ear to me;

In the day when I call answer me quickly.

For my days have been consumed in smoke,

And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.

My heart has been smitten like grass and has withered away,

Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.

Because of the loudness of my groaning

My bones cling to my flesh.

I resemble a pelican of the wilderness;

I have become like an owl of the waste places.

I lie awake,

I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.
