As I have seen, those who plow iniquity

and sow trouble reap the same.

By the breath of God they perish,

and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.

10 The roar of the lion, the voice of the fierce lion,

the teeth of the young lions are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity,

And sow wickedness, reap the same.

By the blast of God they perish,

And by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion,

And the teeth of the young lions, are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — New Living Translation (NLT)

My experience shows that those who plant trouble

and cultivate evil will harvest the same.

A breath from God destroys them.

They vanish in a blast of his anger.

10 The lion roars and the wildcat snarls,

but the teeth of strong lions will be broken.

Job 4:8–10 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Even as I have seen,

Those who plow iniquity

And sow trouble reap the same.

10 The roaring of the lion,

The voice of the fierce lion,

And the teeth of the young lions are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — New Century Version (NCV)

I have noticed that people who plow evil

and plant trouble, harvest it.

God’s breath destroys them,

and a blast of his anger kills them.

10 Lions may roar and growl,

but when the teeth of a strong lion are broken,

Job 4:8–10 — American Standard Version (ASV)

According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity,

And sow trouble, reap the same.

By the breath of God they perish,

And by the blast of his anger are they consumed.

10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion,

And the teeth of the young lions, are broken.

Even as I have seen, they that plough iniquity and sow mischief, reap the same. By the breath of †God they perish, and by the blast of his nostrils are they consumed. 10 The roar of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken;

Job 4:8–10 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Whenever I saw those who plowed wickedness and planted misery,

they gathered its harvest.

God destroys them with his breath

and kills them with a blast of his anger.

10 Though the roar of the lion

and the growl of the ferocious lion ⸤is loud⸥,

the young lions have had their teeth knocked out.

Job 4:8–10 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

In my experience, those who plow injustice

and those who sow trouble reap the same.

They perish at a single blast from God

and come to an end by the breath of His nostrils.

10 The lion may roar and the fierce lion growl,

but the fangs of young lions are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

As I have seen, those who plow iniquity

and sow trouble reap the same.

By the breath of God they perish,

and the teeth of the young lions are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

10 The roar of the lion and the voice of a lion in its prime,

and the teeth of the young lions are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Here’s what I’ve observed.

People gather a crop from what they plant.

If they plant evil and trouble, that’s what they will harvest.

The breath of God destroys them.

The blast of his anger wipes them out.

10 Powerful lions might roar and growl.

But their teeth are broken.

Job 4:8–10 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

“According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity

And those who sow trouble harvest it.

“By the breath of God they perish,

And by the blast of His anger they come to an end.

10 “The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion,

And the teeth of the young lions are broken.
