19 Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven,

and he who testifies for me is on high.

20 My friends scorn me;

my eye pours out tears to God,

21 that he would argue the case of a man with God,

as a son of man does with his neighbor.

Job 16:19–21 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven,

And my record is on high.

20 My friends scorn me:

But mine eye poureth out tears unto God.

21 O that one might plead for a man with God,

As a man pleadeth for his neighbour!

Job 16:19–21 — New Living Translation (NLT)

19 Even now my witness is in heaven.

My advocate is there on high.

20 My friends scorn me,

but I pour out my tears to God.

21 I need someone to mediate between God and me,

as a person mediates between friends.

Job 16:19–21 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Surely even now my witness is in heaven,

And my evidence is on high.

20 My friends scorn me;

My eyes pour out tears to God.

21 Oh, that one might plead for a man with God,

As a man pleads for his neighbor!

Job 16:19–21 — New Century Version (NCV)

19 Even now I have one who speaks for me in heaven;

the one who is on my side is high above.

20 The one who speaks for me is my friend.

My eyes pour out tears to God.

21 He begs God on behalf of a human

as a person begs for his friend.

Job 16:19–21 — American Standard Version (ASV)

19 Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven,

And he that voucheth for me is on high.

20 My friends scoff at me:

But mine eye poureth out tears unto God,

21 That he would maintain the right of a man with God,

And of a son of man with his neighbor!

Job 16:19–21 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

19 Even now, behold, my Witness is in the heavens, and he that voucheth for me is in the heights. 20 My friends are my mockers; mine eye poureth out tears unto †God. 21 Oh that there were arbitration for a man with †God, as a son of man for his friend!

Job 16:19–21 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

19 Even now, look! My witness is in heaven,

and the one who testifies for me is above,

20 the spokesman for my thoughts.

My eyes drip ⸤with tears⸥ to God

Job 16:19–21 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

19 Even now my witness is in heaven,

between a man and God

just as a man pleads for his friend.

as one does for a neighbor.

and as a human for his friend.

Job 16:19–21 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

19 Even now my witness is in heaven.

The one who speaks up for me is there.

as I pour out my tears to God.

as a man begs someone to help his friend.
