Isaiah 22:15–16

Thus says the Lord God of hosts, “Come, go to this steward, to Shebna, who is over the household, and say to him: What have you to do here, and whom have you here, that you have cut out here a tomb for yourself, you who cut out a tomb on the height and carve a dwelling for yourself in the rock?

The Lord God of Armies said, “Go to Shebna, that steward who is in charge of the palace, and say to him: What are you doing here? Who authorized you to carve out a tomb for yourself here, carving your tomb on the height and cutting a resting place for yourself out of rock?

This is what the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, said to me: “Confront Shebna, the palace administrator, and give him this message:

“Who do you think you are,

and what are you doing here,

building a beautiful tomb for yourself—

a monument high up in the rock?

The Lord, Yahweh of hosts, says this:

“Go! Go to this steward, to Shebna,

who is over the house:

‘What business do you have here,

and who do you have here,

that you have cut a grave cutting here for yourself,

carving his grave on the height,

a dwelling place for him in the rock?

Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here,

That thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here,

As he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high,

And that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?
