Leviticus 6:8–7:21

Theny Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the regulation of the burnt offering: The burnt offering must remain on the hearthz on the altar all night until the morning, and the altar’s fire must be kept burning on it. 10 And the priest shall put on his linen robe, and he must put his linen undergarments on his body, and he shall take away the fatty ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar, and he shall place thema beside the altar. 11 And he shall take off his garments and put on other garments, and he shall bring out the fatty ashes outside the campb to a ceremonially clean place, 12 butc the fire on the altar must be kept burning on it; it must not be quenched. And the priest must burn wood every morningd on it,e and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it,f and he shall turn into smoke the fat portions of the fellowship offerings on it.g 13 A perpetual fire must be kept burning on the altar; it must not be quenched.

Additional Laws for Grain Offerings

14 “ ‘And this is the regulation of the grain offering. Aaron’s sons shall present it beforeh Yahweh in front ofi the altar, 15 and hej in his fist shall take away from it some ofk the grain offering’s finely milled flour, and some ofl its oil and all of the frankincense that is on the grain offering, and he shall turn into smoke its token portion on the altar as an appeasing fragrance to Yahweh. 16 And Aaron and his sons must eat the remainder of it; they must eat it as unleavened bread in a holy place—in the tent of assembly’s courtyard they must eat it. 17 It must not be baked with yeast. I have given it as their share from my offerings made by fire. It is a most holy thing,m like the sin offering and like the guilt offering. 18 Every male among Aaron’s sons may eat it as a lasting rule among your generations from the offerings made by fire belonging ton Yahweh. Anything thato touches them will become holy.’ ”

19 Thenp Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 20 “This is the offering of Aaron and his sons that they shall present to Yahweh on the day of his being anointed: a tenth of anq ephah of finely milled flour as a perpetual grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening. 21 It must be mader ins oil on a flat baking pan; yout must bring it well-mixed; you must present pieces of a grain offering’s baked goodsu as an appeasing fragrance to Yahweh. 22 And the anointed priest taking his place from among his sons must do it. As a lasting rule, it must be turned into smoke totally for Yahweh. 23 And every grain offering of a priest must be a whole burnt offering; it must not be eaten.”

Additional Laws for Sin Offerings

24 Thenv Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 25 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the regulation of the sin offering: In the place where the sin offering is slaughtered, the sin offering must be slaughtered beforew Yahweh; it is a most holy thing.x 26 The priest who offers the sin offeringy must eat it in a holy place—in the tent of assembly’s courtyard. 27 Anything thatz touches its flesh will become holy, and when some ofa its blood spatters on ab garment, what was spattered on it youc shall wash in a holy place. 28 And a clay vessel in which it was boiled must be broken, butd if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, thene it shall be thoroughly scoured and rinsed with water. 29 Any male among the priests may eat it; it is a most holy thing.f 30 Butg any sin offering from which some ofh its blood is brought to the tent of assembly to make atonement in the sanctuary must not be eaten; it must be burned in the fire.’ ”

Additional Laws for Guilt Offerings

7 “ ‘And this is the regulation of the guilt offering; it is a most holy thing.a In the place where they slaughter the burnt offering,b they must slaughter the guilt offering,c and hed must sprinkle its blood upon the altar all around. And he must present all of its fat:e the fat tail and the fat that covers the inner parts,f and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and he must remove the lobe on the liver in addition to the kidneys. And the priest shall turn it into smoke on the altar as a food offering made by fire for Yahweh; it is a guilt offering. Every male among the priests may eat it; it must be eaten in a holy place; it is a most holy thing.g The instruction is the same for the guilt offering as for the sin offering;h it belongs toi the priest, who makes atonement with it.

Portions for the Priests

“ ‘Andj the priest who presents a person’sk burnt offering, to thatl priest belongsm the skin of the burnt offering that he presented. And every grain offering that is baked in the oven and all that is prepared in an cooking pan oro on a flat baking pan belongs top the priest who presented it. 10 And every grain offering, whether mixed with oil or dry, shall be for all of Aaron’s sons equally.q

Additional Laws for Fellowship Offerings

11 “ ‘And this is the regulation of the fellowship offerings that he must present to Yahweh: 12 If he presents it for thanksgiving, in addition to the thanksgiving sacrifice he shall present ring-shaped unleavened bread mixed with oil and unleavened bread wafers smeared with oil and well-mixed ring-shaped bread cakes of finely milled flour mixed with oil. 13 In addition to ring-shaped cakes of bread with yeast, he must present his grainr offering together withs his sacrifice of thanksgiving peace offerings. 14 And he shall present one of each kind of graint offering as a contribution for Yahweh; it belongs tou the priest who sprinkles the fellowship offerings’ blood. 15 And the meat of the sacrifice of his thanksgiving fellowship offerings must be eaten on the day of his offering; he must not leave it until morning.

16 “ ‘Butv if his sacrifice is for a vow or as a freewill offering, it must be eaten on the day of his presenting his sacrifice, and on the next day the remainderw from it may be eaten, 17 butx the remainder from the sacrifice’s meat must be burned up in the fire on the third day. 18 And if indeed some of the meat of his fellowship offerings’ sacrifice is eaten on the third day, it will not be accepted; it will not be considered of benefit for the one who presented it—it shall be unclean meat, and the persony who eats it shall bear his guilt. 19 And the meat that touches anything unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned with fire, and as for the cleanz meat, anyone who is clean may eat the meat. 20 And the persona who eats meat from the fellowship offerings’ sacrifice, which is for Yahweh, and whose uncleanness is upon him—that personb shall be cut off from his people. 21 And when a personc touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness or an unclean animal or any unclean detestable thing, and he eats from the meat of the fellowship offerings’ sacrifice, which is for Yahweh, thend that persone shall be cut off from his people.’ ”
