Joel 3:18–21 — The New International Version (NIV)

18 “In that day the mountains will drip new wine,

and the hills will flow with milk;

all the ravines of Judah will run with water.

A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house

and will water the valley of acacias.

19 But Egypt will be desolate,

Edom a desert waste,

because of violence done to the people of Judah,

in whose land they shed innocent blood.

20 Judah will be inhabited forever

and Jerusalem through all generations.

21 Shall I leave their innocent blood unavenged?

No, I will not.”

The Lord dwells in Zion!

Joel 3:18–21 — English Standard Version (ESV)

18 “And in that day

the mountains shall drip sweet wine,

and the hills shall flow with milk,

and all the streambeds of Judah

shall flow with water;

and a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord

and water the Valley of Shittim.

19 “Egypt shall become a desolation

and Edom a desolate wilderness,

for the violence done to the people of Judah,

because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

20 But Judah shall be inhabited forever,

and Jerusalem to all generations.

21 I will avenge their blood,

blood I have not avenged,

for the Lord dwells in Zion.”

Joel 3:18–21 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

18 And it shall come to pass in that day,

That the mountains shall drop down new wine,

And the hills shall flow with milk,

And all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters,

And a fountain shall come forth of the house of the Lord,

And shall water the valley of Shittim.

19 Egypt shall be a desolation,

And Edom shall be a desolate wilderness,

For the violence against the children of Judah,

Because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

20 But Judah shall dwell for ever,

And Jerusalem from generation to generation.

21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed:

For the Lord dwelleth in Zion.

Joel 3:18–21 — New Living Translation (NLT)

18 In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine,

and the hills will flow with milk.

Water will fill the streambeds of Judah,

and a fountain will burst forth from the Lord’s Temple,

watering the arid valley of acacias.

19 But Egypt will become a wasteland

and Edom will become a wilderness,

because they attacked the people of Judah

and killed innocent people in their land.

20 “But Judah will be filled with people forever,

and Jerusalem will endure through all generations.

21 I will pardon my people’s crimes,

which I have not yet pardoned;

and I, the Lord, will make my home

in Jerusalem with my people.”

Joel 3:18–21 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

18 And it will come to pass in that day

That the mountains shall drip with new wine,

The hills shall flow with milk,

And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water;

A fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord

And water the Valley of Acacias.

19 “Egypt shall be a desolation,

And Edom a desolate wilderness,

Because of violence against the people of Judah,

For they have shed innocent blood in their land.

20 But Judah shall abide forever,

And Jerusalem from generation to generation.

21 For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted;

For the Lord dwells in Zion.

Joel 3:18–21 — New Century Version (NCV)

18 “On that day wine will drip from the mountains,

milk will flow from the hills,

and water will run through all the ravines of Judah.

A fountain will flow from the Temple of the Lord

and give water to the valley of acacia trees.

19 But Egypt will become empty,

and Edom an empty desert,

because they were cruel to the people of Judah.

They killed innocent people in that land.

20 But there will always be people living in Judah,

and people will live in Jerusalem from now on.

21 Egypt and Edom killed my people,

so I will definitely punish them.”

The Lord lives in Jerusalem!

Joel 3:18–21 — American Standard Version (ASV)

18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall flow with waters; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of Jehovah, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 20 But Judah shall abide for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21 And I will cleanse their blood, that I have not cleansed: for Jehovah dwelleth in Zion.

Joel 3:18–21 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the water-courses of Judah shall flow with waters; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of Jehovah, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, in that they have shed innocent blood in their land. 20 But Judah shall abide for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21 And I will purge them from the blood from which I had not purged them: for Jehovah dwelleth in Zion.

Joel 3:18–21 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

18 On that day new wine will cover the mountains.

Milk will flow on the hills.

Water will flow in all the brooks of Judah.

A spring will flow from the Lord’s temple.

It will water the valley of Shittim.

19 Egypt will become a wasteland.

Edom will become a barren desert.

This is because the nations were cruel to Judah.

They murdered innocent people in their land.

20 People will always live in Judah.

People will live in Jerusalem from now on.

21 I will punish those who murder.”

The Lord lives in Zion!

and the hills will flow with milk.

All the streams of Judah will flow with water,

and a spring will issue from the Lord’s house,

watering the Valley of Acacias.

19 Egypt will become desolate,

and Edom a desert wasteland,

because of the violence done to the people of Judah

in whose land they shed innocent blood.

20 But Judah will be inhabited forever,

and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

21 I will pardon their bloodguilt,

which I have not pardoned,

for the Lord dwells in Zion.

Joel 3:18–21 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

the mountains shall drip sweet wine,

the hills shall flow with milk,

and all the stream beds of Judah

shall flow with water;

a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord

and water the Wadi Shittim.

19 Egypt shall become a desolation

and Edom a desolate wilderness,

because of the violence done to the people of Judah,

in whose land they have shed innocent blood.

20 But Judah shall be inhabited forever,

and Jerusalem to all generations.

21 I will avenge their blood, and I will not clear the guilty,

for the Lord dwells in Zion.

Joel 3:18–21 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

18 “At that time fresh wine will drip from the mountains.

Milk will flow down from the hills.

Water will run through all of Judah’s valleys.

A fountain will flow out of my temple.

It will water the places where acacia trees grow.

19 But Egypt will be deserted.

Edom will become a dry and empty desert.

They did terrible harm to the people of Judah.

My people were not guilty of doing anything wrong.

But Egypt and Edom spilled their blood anyway.

20 My people will live in Judah and Jerusalem forever.

The land will be their home for all time to come.

21 Egypt and Edom have spilled my people’s blood.

I will punish them for it.”

The Lord lives in Zion!

And Jerusalem for all generations.

21 And I will avenge their blood which I have not avenged,

For the Lord dwells in Zion.
