68 “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,

because he has come to his people and redeemed them.

69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us

in the house of his servant David

70 (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),

71 salvation from our enemies

and from the hand of all who hate us—

72 to show mercy to our ancestors

and to remember his holy covenant,

73 the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,

and to enable us to serve him without fear

75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

73 the covenant he swore with an oath

to our ancestor Abraham.

74 We have been rescued from our enemies

so we can serve God without fear,

75 in holiness and righteousness

for as long as we live.

from the family of God’s servant David.

70 He said that he would do this

through his holy prophets who lived long ago:

71 He promised he would save us from our enemies

and from the power of all those who hate us.

72 He said he would give mercy to our ancestors

and that he would remember his holy promise.

73 God promised Abraham, our father,

74 that he would save us from the power of our enemies

so we could serve him without fear,

75 being holy and good before God as long as we live.

68 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, because he has visited and wrought redemption for his people, 69 and raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of David his servant; 70 as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began; 71 deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us; 72 to fulfil mercy with our fathers and remember his holy covenant, 73 the oath which he swore to Abraham our father, 74 to give us, that, saved out of the hand of our enemies, we should serve him without fear 75 in piety and righteousness before him all our days.

He has given us the privilege,

74 since we have been rescued

from our enemies’ clutches,

to serve Him without fear

75 in holiness and righteousness

in His presence all our days.

70 as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,

72 Thus he has shown the mercy promised to our ancestors,

and has remembered his holy covenant,

73 the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham,

to grant us 74 that we, being rescued from the hands of our enemies,

He did it for those who are from the family line of his servant David.

70 Long ago holy prophets said he would do it.

71 He has saved us from our enemies.

We are rescued from all who hate us.

72 He has been kind to our people.

He has remembered his holy covenant.

73 He made an oath to our father Abraham.

74 He promised to save us from our enemies,

so that we could serve him without fear.

75 He wants us to be holy and godly as long as we live.
