*Paul, an apostle, a(not of men, neither by man, but bby Jesus Christ, and God the Father, cwho raised him from the dead;) And all dthe brethren which are with me, unto the churches of eGalatia: fGrace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, gWho gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this hpresent ievil world, according to the will of jGod and our Father: kTo whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I marvel that ye are lso soon mremoved from nhim that called you into the grace of Christ unto oanother gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that ptrouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or qan angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be raccursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach sany other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be raccursed. 10 For tdo I now upersuade men, or God? or do I seek wto please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

11 But xzI certify you, brethren, that ythe gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For zI neither received it aof man, neither was I taught it, but by athe revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For ye have heard of my bconversation in time past in the cJews’ religion, how that dbeyond measure I persecuted ethe church of God, and fwasted it: 14 And gprofited in the cJews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, hbeing more exceedingly zealous of ithe traditions of my fathers. 15 *But when jit pleased God, kwho separated me from my mother’s womb, and lcalled me by his grace, 16 aTo reveal his Son in me, mthat I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I nconferred not with oflesh and blood: 17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into pArabia, and returned again unto qDamascus. 18 *Then after rthree years rrI ||went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him sfifteen days. 19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save tJames uthe Lord’s brother. 20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, wbefore God, I lie not. 21 Afterwards I came into the xregions of ySyria and zCilicia; 22 And was unknown by face unto athe churches of Judaea bwhich were in Christ: 23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he fdestroyed. 24 And cthey glorified God in me.

2 *Then fourteen years aafter bI cwent up again to Jerusalem with dBarnabas, and took eTitus with me also. And I went up fby revelation, gand hcommunicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but ||iprivately to them kwhich were of reputation, lest by any means lI should run, or had run, in vain. But neither eTitus, who was with me, being a Greek, mwas compelled to be circumcised: And that nbecause of ofalse brethren unawares brought in, who pcame in privily to spy out qour liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, rthat they might bring us into bondage: To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not sfor an hour; that tthe truth of the gospel might continue with you. But of these kwho seemed uto be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: wGod accepteth no man’s person:) for xthey kwho seemed to be somewhat yin conference added nothing to me: But contrariwise, when they saw that zthe gospel of the uncircumcision awas committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the bapostleship of the circumcision, the same cwas mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) And when dJames, eCephas, and fJohn, gwho seemed to be hpillars, perceived ithe grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and jBarnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. 10 Only they would kthat we should remember the poor; lthe same which I also was forward to do.

11 But mwhen Peter was come to nAntioch, I withstood him oto the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before that certain came from dJames, phe did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing qthem which were of the circumcision. 13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that jBarnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. 14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to rthe truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter sbefore them all, If thou, being a Jew, plivest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why sscompellest thou the Gentiles to tlive as do the Jews? 15 uWe who are Jews vby nature, and not wsinners of the Gentiles, 16 Knowing that xa man is not justified by the works of the law, but yuby the zfaith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified uby the zfaith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for aby the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found bsinners, is therefore Christ cthe minister of sin? dGod forbid. 18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I emake myself a transgressor. 19 For I fthrough the law gam dead to the law, that hI might live unto God. 20 I am icrucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh hI live by the faith of the Son of God, kwho loved me, and lgave himself for me. 21 I do not mfrustrate the grace of God: for nif righteousness come by the law, then oChrist is dead in vain.

3 O foolish aGalatians, who hath bewitched you, bthat ye should not obey bcthe truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ dhath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, eReceived ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or fby the hearing of efaith? Are ye so foolish? having gbegun in the Spirit, are ye now ghmade perfect by the flesh? iHave ye suffered ||so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and kworketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as lAbraham believed God, and it was ||accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that mthey which are of faith, nthe same are the children of Abraham. And othe scripture, foreseeing that God pwould justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, qIn thee shall all nations be blessed. So then mthey which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law rare under the curse: for it is written, sCursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But tthat no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, uThe just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, wThe man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 xChrist hath yredeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, zCursed is every one that ahangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham bmight come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might creceive dthe promise of the Spirit through faith. 15 Brethren, I speak eafter the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s ||fcovenant, yet if it be gconfirmed, no man hdisannulleth, or addeth thereto. 16 Now hhto Abraham and his seed were ithe promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but jas of one, kAnd to thy seed, which is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, lwhich was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot mdisannul, that it should nomake the promise of none effect. 18 For if othe inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 Wherefore then serveth the law? pIt was added because of transgressions, till kthe seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was qordained by angels rin the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a smediator is not a mediator of one, but tGod is one. 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? uGod forbid: wfor if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But xthe scripture hath yconcluded all under sin, zthat the promise by afaith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But bbefore faith came, we were ckept under the law, yshut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore dthe law was our eschoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, fthat we might be justified by faith. 25 But bafter that faith is come, we are no longer under a eschoolmaster. 26 For gye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For has many of you as have been baptized into Christ ihave put on Christ. 28 There is kneither Jew nor Greek, there is lneither bond nor free, there is mneither male nor female: for nye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if oye be Christ’s, pthen are ye Abraham’s seed, and qheirs according to the promise.

4 Now I say, That athe heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under btutors and cgovernors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, dwere in bondage under ethe ||elements of the world: But fwhen the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, gmade hof a woman, gmade iunder the law, kTo redeem them that were under the law, that lwe might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth mthe Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, nAbba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and oif a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Howbeit then, pwhen ye knew not God, qye did service unto them which rby nature are no gods. But now,
