Jeremiah 6:28–30 — The New International Version (NIV)

28 They are all hardened rebels,

going about to slander.

They are bronze and iron;

they all act corruptly.

29 The bellows blow fiercely

to burn away the lead with fire,

but the refining goes on in vain;

the wicked are not purged out.

30 They are called rejected silver,

because the Lord has rejected them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. 29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away. 30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — New Living Translation (NLT)

28 They are the worst kind of rebel,

full of slander.

They are as hard as bronze and iron,

and they lead others into corruption.

29 The bellows fiercely fan the flames

to burn out the corruption.

But it does not purify them,

for the wickedness remains.

30 I will label them ‘Rejected Silver,’

for I, the Lord, am discarding them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

28 They are all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers.

They are bronze and iron,

They are all corrupters;

29 The bellows blow fiercely,

The lead is consumed by the fire;

The smelter refines in vain,

For the wicked are not drawn off.

30 People will call them rejected silver,

Because the Lord has rejected them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — New Century Version (NCV)

28 All my people have turned against me and are stubborn.

They go around telling lies about others.

They are like bronze and iron

that became covered with rust.

They all act dishonestly.

29 The fire is fanned to make it hotter,

but the lead does not melt.

The pure metal does not come out;

the evil is not removed from my people.

30 My people will be called rejected silver,

because the Lord has rejected them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — American Standard Version (ASV)

28 They are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly. 29 The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away. 30 Refuse silver shall men call them, because Jehovah hath rejected them.

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

28 They are all the most rebellious of rebels, going about with slander: they are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters. 29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; they have melted, and melted in vain; and the bad are not plucked away. 30 Reprobate silver shall they call them, for Jehovah hath rejected them.

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

28 They are all vicious rebels.

They go around slandering.

They are all like bronze and iron.

They corrupt themselves.

29 The bellows of the blast furnace blow fiercely

to make the fire melt away the lead.

It is useless to go on refining

because the impurities can’t be removed.

30 ⸤People⸥ will call them useless silver

because the Lord has rejected them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

28 All are stubborn rebels

spreading slander.

They are bronze and iron;

all of them are corrupt.

29 The bellows blow,

blasting the lead with fire.

The refining is completely in vain;

the evil ones are not separated out.

30 They are called rejected silver,

for the Lord has rejected them.

the lead is consumed by the fire;

in vain the refining goes on,

for the wicked are not removed.

30 They are called “rejected silver,”

for the Lord has rejected them.

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

28 All of them are stubborn rebels,

going about talking slander.

They are bronze and iron,

they are all behaving corruptly.

lead is consumed by fire.

In vain he keeps on refining,

but the wicked are not torn apart.

30 They are called rejected silver,

For Yahweh has rejected them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

28 All of them are used to disobeying me.

They go around telling lies about others.

They are like bronze mixed with iron.

All of them do very sinful things.

29 The fire is made very hot

so the lead will burn away.

But it is impossible to make those people pure.

Those who are evil are not removed.

30 They are like silver that is thrown away.

That is because I have not accepted them.”

Jeremiah 6:28–30 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

28 All of them are stubbornly rebellious,

Going about as a talebearer.

They are bronze and iron;

They, all of them, are corrupt.

29 The bellows blow fiercely,

The lead is consumed by the fire;

In vain the refining goes on,

But the wicked are not separated.

30 They call them rejected silver,

Because the Lord has rejected them.
