Proverbs 10:25–29 — The New International Version (NIV)

25 When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone,

but the righteous stand firm forever.

26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,

so are sluggards to those who send them.

27 The fear of the Lord adds length to life,

but the years of the wicked are cut short.

28 The prospect of the righteous is joy,

but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

29 The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless,

but it is the ruin of those who do evil.

Proverbs 10:25–29 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more:

But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes,

So is the sluggard to them that send him.

27 The fear of the Lord prolongeth days:

But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness:

But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 The way of the Lord is strength to the upright:

But destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Proverbs 10:25–29 — New Living Translation (NLT)

25 When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away,

but the godly have a lasting foundation.

26 Lazy people irritate their employers,

like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes.

27 Fear of the Lord lengthens one’s life,

but the years of the wicked are cut short.

28 The hopes of the godly result in happiness,

but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.

29 The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity,

but it destroys the wicked.

Proverbs 10:25–29 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more,

But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

So is the lazy man to those who send him.

27 The fear of the Lord prolongs days,

But the years of the wicked will be shortened.

28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,

But the expectation of the wicked will perish.

Proverbs 10:25–29 — New Century Version (NCV)

25 A storm will blow the evil person away,

but a good person will always be safe.

26 A lazy person affects the one he works for

like vinegar on the teeth or smoke in the eyes.

27 Whoever respects the Lord will have a long life,

but the life of an evil person will be cut short.

28 A good person can look forward to happiness,

but an evil person can expect nothing.

29 The Lord will protect good people

but will ruin those who do evil.

so is the lazy person to those who send him ⸤on a mission⸥.

27 The fear of the Lord lengthens ⸤the number of⸥ days,

but the years of wicked people are shortened.

28 The hope of righteous people ⸤leads to⸥ joy,

but the eager waiting of wicked people comes to nothing.

29 The way of the Lord is a fortress for an innocent person

but a ruin to those who are troublemakers.

Proverbs 10:25–29 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

25 When the whirlwind passes,

the wicked are no more,

but the righteous are secure forever.
