Isaiah 44:24–28 — The New International Version (NIV)

24 “This is what the Lord says—

your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb:

I am the Lord,

the Maker of all things,

who stretches out the heavens,

who spreads out the earth by myself,

25 who foils the signs of false prophets

and makes fools of diviners,

who overthrows the learning of the wise

and turns it into nonsense,

26 who carries out the words of his servants

and fulfills the predictions of his messengers,

who says of Jerusalem, ‘It shall be inhabited,’

of the towns of Judah, ‘They shall be rebuilt,’

and of their ruins, ‘I will restore them,’

27 who says to the watery deep, ‘Be dry,

and I will dry up your streams,’

28 who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd

and will accomplish all that I please;

he will say of Jerusalem, “Let it be rebuilt,”

and of the temple, “Let its foundations be laid.” ’

Isaiah 44:24–28 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

24 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer,

And he that formed thee from the womb,

I am the Lord that maketh all things;

That stretcheth forth the heavens alone;

That spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars,

And maketh diviners mad;

That turneth wise men backward,

And maketh their knowledge foolish;

26 That confirmeth the word of his servant,

And performeth the counsel of his messengers;

That saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited;

And to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built,

And I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

27 That saith to the deep, Be dry,

And I will dry up thy rivers:

28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd,

And shall perform all my pleasure:

Even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built;

And to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

Isaiah 44:24–28 — New Living Translation (NLT)

24 This is what the Lord says—

your Redeemer and Creator:

“I am the Lord, who made all things.

I alone stretched out the heavens.

Who was with me

when I made the earth?

25 I expose the false prophets as liars

and make fools of fortune-tellers.

I cause the wise to give bad advice,

thus proving them to be fools.

26 But I carry out the predictions of my prophets!

By them I say to Jerusalem, ‘People will live here again,’

and to the towns of Judah, ‘You will be rebuilt;

I will restore all your ruins!’

27 When I speak to the rivers and say, ‘Dry up!’

they will be dry.

28 When I say of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd,’

he will certainly do as I say.

He will command, ‘Rebuild Jerusalem’;

he will say, ‘Restore the Temple.’ ”

Isaiah 44:24–28 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,

And He who formed you from the womb:

“I am the Lord, who makes all things,

Who stretches out the heavens all alone,

Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;

25 Who frustrates the signs of the babblers,

And drives diviners mad;

Who turns wise men backward,

And makes their knowledge foolishness;

26 Who confirms the word of His servant,

And performs the counsel of His messengers;

Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’

To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’

And I will raise up her waste places;

27 Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry!

And I will dry up your rivers’;

28 Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,

And he shall perform all My pleasure,

Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,”

And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.” ’

Isaiah 44:24–28 — New Century Version (NCV)

24 This is what the Lord says, who saved you,

who formed you in your mother’s body:

“I, the Lord, made everything,

stretching out the skies by myself

and spreading out the earth all alone.

25 I show that the signs of the lying prophets are false;

I make fools of those who do magic.

I confuse even the wise;

they think they know much, but I make them look foolish.

26 I make the messages of my servants come true;

I make the advice of my messengers come true.

I say to Jerusalem,

‘People will live in you again!’

I say to the towns of Judah,

‘You will be built again!’

I say to Jerusalem’s ruins,

‘I will repair you.’

27 I tell the deep waters, ‘Become dry!

I will make your streams become dry!’

28 I say of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd

and will do all that I want him to do.

He will say to Jerusalem, “You will be built again!”

He will tell the Temple, “Your foundations will be rebuilt.” ’ ”

Isaiah 44:24–28 — American Standard Version (ASV)

24 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth (who is with me?); 25 that frustrateth the signs of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; 26 that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith of Jerusalem, She shall be inhabited; and of the cities of Judah, They shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places thereof; 27 that saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers; 28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure, even saying of Jerusalem, She shall be built; and of the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

Isaiah 44:24–28 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

24 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, the maker of all things; who alone stretched out the heavens, who did spread forth the earth by myself; 25 —he that frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; 26 that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built up, and I will raise up their ruins; 27 that saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers; 28 that saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and he shall perform all my pleasure; even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

Isaiah 44:24–28 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

24 The Lord reclaimed you.

He formed you in the womb.

This is what the Lord says:

I, the Lord, made everything.

I stretched out the heavens by myself.

I spread out the earth all alone.

25 I cause the signs of false prophets to fail

and make fools of fortunetellers.

I make wise men retreat

and turn their knowledge into foolishness.

26 He confirms the word of his servant

and fulfills the plan of his messengers.

He says about Jerusalem, “It will be inhabited.”

He says about the cities of Judah, “They will be rebuilt.”

He says about their ruins, “I will restore them.”

27 He says to the deep water, “Dry up.”

So I will dry up your rivers.

28 He says about Cyrus, “He is my shepherd.

He will do everything I want him to do.”

He says about Jerusalem, “It will be rebuilt.”

He says about the temple, “Your foundation will be laid.”

Isaiah 44:24–28 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

24 This is what the Lord, your Redeemer who formed you from the womb, says:

I am Yahweh, who made everything;

who stretched out the heavens by Myself;

who alone spread out the earth;

25 who destroys the omens of the false prophets

and makes fools of diviners;

who confounds the wise

and makes their knowledge foolishness;

26 who confirms the message of His servant

and fulfills the counsel of His messengers;

who says to Jerusalem, “She will be inhabited,”

and to the cities of Judah, “They will be rebuilt,”

and I will restore her ruins;

27 who says to the depths of the sea, “Be dry,”

and I will dry up your rivers;

28 who says to Cyrus, “My shepherd,

he will fulfill all My pleasure”

and says to Jerusalem, “She will be rebuilt,”

and of the temple, “Its foundation will be laid.”

Isaiah 44:24–28 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,

who formed you in the womb:

I am the Lord, who made all things,

who alone stretched out the heavens,

who by myself spread out the earth;

25 who frustrates the omens of liars,

and makes fools of diviners;

who turns back the wise,

and makes their knowledge foolish;

26 who confirms the word of his servant,

and fulfills the prediction of his messengers;

who says of Jerusalem, “It shall be inhabited,”

and of the cities of Judah, “They shall be rebuilt,

and I will raise up their ruins”;

27 who says to the deep, “Be dry—

I will dry up your rivers”;

28 who says of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd,

and he shall carry out all my purpose”;

and who says of Jerusalem, “It shall be rebuilt,”

and of the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”

Isaiah 44:24–28 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

24 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer,

and he who formed you in the womb:

“I am Yahweh, who made everything,

who stretched out the heavens alone,

who spread out the earth—who was with me?—

25 who frustrates the signs of oracle priests

and makes a fool of diviners,

who drives the wise men back

and makes their knowledge foolish,

26 who keeps the word of his servant

and carries out the plan of his messengers,

who says of Jerusalem, ‘It shall be inhabited,’

and of the cities of Judah, ‘They shall be rebuilt,

and I will restore its ruins’;

27 who says to the deep, ‘Dry up!

And I will cause your rivers to dry up’;

28 who says of Cyrus, ‘My shepherd,’

and he shall carry out all my wishes;

and saying of Jerusalem, ‘It shall be rebuilt,’

and the temple, ‘It shall be founded.’ ”

Isaiah 44:24–28 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

24 The Lord says,

“People of Israel, I set you free.

I formed you when you were born as a nation.

“I am the Lord. I have made everything.

I alone spread out the heavens.

I formed the earth by myself.

25 “Some prophets are not really prophets at all.

I show that their miraculous signs are fake.

I make those who practice evil magic look foolish.

I destroy the learning of those who think they are wise.

Their knowledge does not make any sense at all.

26 I make the words of my servants the prophets come true.

I carry out what my messengers say will happen.

“I say about Jerusalem,

‘My people will live there again.’

I say about the towns of Judah,

‘They will be rebuilt.’

I say about their broken-down buildings,

‘I will make them like new again.’

27 I say to the deep waters,

‘Dry up. Let your streams become dry.’

28 I say about Cyrus,

‘He is my shepherd.

He will accomplish everything I want him to.

He will say about Jerusalem,

“Let it be rebuilt.”

And he will say about the temple,

“Let its foundations be laid.” ’

Isaiah 44:24–28 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb,

“I, the Lord, am the maker of all things,

Stretching out the heavens by Myself

And spreading out the earth all alone,

25 Causing the omens of boasters to fail,

Making fools out of diviners,

Causing wise men to draw back

And turning their knowledge into foolishness,

26 Confirming the word of His servant

And performing the purpose of His messengers.

It is I who says of Jerusalem, ‘She shall be inhabited!’

And of the cities of Judah, ‘They shall be built.’

And I will raise up her ruins again.

27 It is I who says to the depth of the sea, ‘Be dried up!’

And I will make your rivers dry.

28 It is I who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd!

And he will perform all My desire.’

And he declares of Jerusalem, ‘She will be built,’

And of the temple, ‘Your foundation will be laid.’ ”
