Isaiah 34:2–4 — The New International Version (NIV)

The Lord is angry with all nations;

his wrath is on all their armies.

He will totally destroy them,

he will give them over to slaughter.

Their slain will be thrown out,

their dead bodies will stink;

the mountains will be soaked with their blood.

All the stars in the sky will be dissolved

and the heavens rolled up like a scroll;

all the starry host will fall

like withered leaves from the vine,

like shriveled figs from the fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations,

And his fury upon all their armies:

He hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Their slain also shall be cast out,

And their stink shall come up out of their carcases,

And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved,

And the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll:

And all their host shall fall down,

As the leaf falleth off from the vine,

And as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)

For the Lord is enraged against the nations.

His fury is against all their armies.

He will completely destroy them,

dooming them to slaughter.

Their dead will be left unburied,

and the stench of rotting bodies will fill the land.

The mountains will flow with their blood.

The heavens above will melt away

and disappear like a rolled-up scroll.

The stars will fall from the sky

like withered leaves from a grapevine,

or shriveled figs from a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations,

And His fury against all their armies;

He has utterly destroyed them,

He has given them over to the slaughter.

Also their slain shall be thrown out;

Their stench shall rise from their corpses,

And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

All the host of heaven shall be dissolved,

And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;

All their host shall fall down

As the leaf falls from the vine,

And as fruit falling from a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

The Lord is angry with all the nations;

he is angry with their armies.

He will destroy them and kill them all.

Their bodies will be thrown outside.

The stink will rise from the bodies,

and the blood will flow down the mountains.

The sun, moon, and stars will dissolve,

and the sky will be rolled up like a scroll.

The stars will fall

like dead leaves from a vine

or dried-up figs from a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig-tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

For the wrath of Jehovah is against all the nations, and his fury against all their armies: he hath devoted them to destruction, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. And their slain shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up from their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. And all the host of the heavens shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as a leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as the withered fruit from the fig-tree.

The Lord is angry with all the nations.

He is furious with all their armies.

He has claimed them for destruction.

He has handed them over to be slaughtered.

Their dead bodies will be thrown out.

A stench will rise from their corpses.

Mountains will be red with their blood.

All the stars in the sky will rot.

The heavens will be rolled up like a scroll.

The stars will fall

like leaves from a grapevine,

like green figs from a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Lord is angry with all the nations—

furious with all their armies.

He will set them apart for destruction,

giving them over to slaughter.

Their slain will be thrown out,

and the stench of their corpses will rise;

the mountains will flow with their blood.

All the heavenly bodies will dissolve.

The skies will roll up like a scroll,

and their stars will all wither

as leaves wither on the vine,

and foliage on the fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

For the Lord is enraged against all the nations,

and furious against all their hordes;

he has doomed them, has given them over for slaughter.

Their slain shall be cast out,

and the stench of their corpses shall rise;

the mountains shall flow with their blood.

All the host of heaven shall rot away,

and the skies roll up like a scroll.

All their host shall wither

like a leaf withering on a vine,

or fruit withering on a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

For the anger of Yahweh is against all the nations,

and his wrath is against all their host;

he has put them under a ban,

he has given them up for slaughter.

And their slain shall be cast out;

as for their corpses, their stench shall go up.

And the mountains shall melt with their blood,

and all the host of heaven shall rot.

And the skies shall roll up like a scroll,

and all their host shall wither

like the withering of a leaf from a vine,

or like the withering from a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

The Lord is angry with all of the nations.

His anger burns against all of their armies.

He will totally destroy them.

He will have them killed.

Those who are killed won’t be buried.

Their dead bodies will be thrown on the ground.

They will give off a very bad smell.

Their blood will cover the mountains.

All of the stars in the heavens will vanish.

The sky will be rolled up like a scroll.

All of the stars in the sky will fall like dried-up leaves from a vine.

They will drop like wrinkled figs from a fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2–4 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

For the Lord’s indignation is against all the nations,

And His wrath against all their armies;

He has utterly destroyed them,

He has given them over to slaughter.

So their slain will be thrown out,

And their corpses will give off their stench,

And the mountains will be drenched with their blood.

And all the host of heaven will wear away,

And the sky will be rolled up like a scroll;

All their hosts will also wither away

As a leaf withers from the vine,

Or as one withers from the fig tree.
