For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

Colossians 2:8–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Colossians 2:8–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.

Colossians 2:8–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

Colossians 2:8–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

All of God lives in Christ’s body,

Colossians 2:8–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ. For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ,

Beware lest anyone take you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world and not according to Christ, because in him all the fullness of deity dwells bodily,

Colossians 2:8–9 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Make sure no one captures you. They will try to capture you by using false reasoning that has no meaning. Their ideas depend on human teachings. They also depend on the basic things the people of this world believe. They don’t depend on Christ.

God’s whole nature is living in Christ in human form.
