Zechariah 9:2–4 — The New International Version (NIV)

and on Hamath too, which borders on it,

and on Tyre and Sidon, though they are very skillful.

Tyre has built herself a stronghold;

she has heaped up silver like dust,

and gold like the dirt of the streets.

But the Lord will take away her possessions

and destroy her power on the sea,

and she will be consumed by fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

And Hamath also shall border thereby;

Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.

And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold,

And heaped up silver as the dust,

And fine gold as the mire of the streets.

Behold, the Lord will cast her out,

And he will smite her power in the sea;

And she shall be devoured with fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Doom is certain for Hamath,

near Damascus,

and for the cities of Tyre and Sidon,

though they are so clever.

Tyre has built a strong fortress

and has made silver and gold

as plentiful as dust in the streets!

But now the Lord will strip away Tyre’s possessions

and hurl its fortifications into the sea,

and it will be burned to the ground.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Also against Hamath, which borders on it,

And against Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

For Tyre built herself a tower,

Heaped up silver like the dust,

And gold like the mire of the streets.

Behold, the Lord will cast her out;

He will destroy her power in the sea,

And she will be devoured by fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

The message is also against the city of Hamath, on the border,

and against Tyre and Sidon, with their skill.

Tyre has built a strong wall for herself.

She has piled up silver like dust

and gold like the mud in the streets.

But the Lord will take away all she has

and destroy her power on the sea.

That city will be destroyed by fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

and Hamath, also, which bordereth thereon; Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise. And Tyre did build herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets. Behold, the Lord will dispossess her, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

and also on Hamath which bordereth thereon; on Tyre and Zidon, though she be very wise. And Tyre hath built herself a stronghold, and hath heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets. Behold, the Lord will take possession of her, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

and also Hamath, which borders on it,

and Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

(The eyes of humanity and of all the tribes of Israel

are on the Lord.)

Tyre built itself a fortress.

It piled up silver like dust

and gold like mud in the streets.

The Lord will take away its possessions.

He will throw its wealth into the sea

and burn the city down.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

and also against Hamath, which borders it,

as well as Tyre and Sidon,

though they are very shrewd.

Tyre has built herself a fortress;

she has heaped up silver like dust

and gold like the dirt of the streets.

Listen! The Lord will impoverish her

and cast her wealth into the sea;

she herself will be consumed by fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Hamath also, which borders on it,

Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

Tyre has built itself a rampart,

and heaped up silver like dust,

and gold like the dirt of the streets.

But now, the Lord will strip it of its possessions

and hurl its wealth into the sea,

and it shall be devoured by fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

and also Hamath, which borders on it;

Tyre and Sidon—yes, they are very wise!

Tyre has built a fortification for itself,

and it heaped up silver like dust,

and gold like the mud of the streets.

Look! The Lord will drive it out

and will hurl its outer ramparts into the sea,

and it will be consumed by fire.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

The Lord will judge Hamath too.

It’s next to Damascus.

He will also punish Tyre and Sidon

even though they are very clever.

Tyre’s people have built a fort for themselves.

They’ve piled up silver like dust.

They have as much gold as the dirt in the streets.

But the Lord will take away everything they have.

He’ll destroy their power on the Mediterranean Sea.

And Tyre will be completely burned up.

Zechariah 9:2–4 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

And Hamath also, which borders on it;

Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

For Tyre built herself a fortress

And piled up silver like dust,

And gold like the mire of the streets.

Behold, the Lord will dispossess her

And cast her wealth into the sea;

And she will be consumed with fire.
