Psalm 125:title–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

Title A song of ascents.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,

which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

so the Lord surrounds his people

both now and forevermore.

The scepter of the wicked will not remain

over the land allotted to the righteous,

for then the righteous might use

their hands to do evil.

Lord, do good to those who are good,

to those who are upright in heart.

But those who turn to crooked ways

the Lord will banish with the evildoers.

Peace be on Israel.

Psalm 125:title–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Title A Song of degrees.

They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion,

Which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,

So the Lord is round about his people

From henceforth even for ever.

For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous;

Lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good,

And to them that are upright in their hearts.

As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways,

The Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity:

But peace shall be upon Israel.

Psalm 125:title–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Title A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem.

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion;

they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem,

so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.

The wicked will not rule the land of the godly,

for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.

O Lord, do good to those who are good,

whose hearts are in tune with you.

But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord.

Take them away with those who do evil.

May Israel have peace!

Psalm 125:title–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Title A Song of Ascents.

Those who trust in the Lord

Are like Mount Zion,

Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

So the Lord surrounds His people

From this time forth and forever.

For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest

On the land allotted to the righteous,

Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.

Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,

And to those who are upright in their hearts.

As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways,

The Lord shall lead them away

With the workers of iniquity.

Peace be upon Israel!

Psalm 125:title–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

Title A song for going up to worship.

Those who trust the Lord are like Mount Zion,

which sits unmoved forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

the Lord surrounds his people

now and forever.

The wicked will not rule

over those who do right.

If they did, the people who do right

might use their power to do evil.

Lord, be good to those who are good,

whose hearts are honest.

But, Lord, when you remove those who do evil,

also remove those who stop following you.

Let there be peace in Israel.

Psalm 125:title–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

They that trust in Jehovah

Are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abideth for ever.

As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,

So Jehovah is round about his people

From this time forth and for evermore.

For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous;

That the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.

Do good, O Jehovah, unto those that are good,

And to them that are upright in their hearts.

But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways,

Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity.

Peace be upon Israel.

Psalm 125:title–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Title A Song of degrees.

They that confide in Jehovah are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved; it abideth for ever. Jerusalem! —mountains are round about her, and Jehovah is round about his people, from henceforth and for evermore. For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

Do good, O Jehovah, unto the good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!

Psalm 125:title–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Title A song for going up to worship.

Those who trust the Lord are like Mount Zion,

which can never be shaken.

It remains firm forever.

⸤As⸥ the mountains surround Jerusalem,

so the Lord surrounds his people now and forever.

A wicked ruler will not be allowed to govern

the land set aside for righteous people.

That is why righteous people do not use their power to do wrong.

Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,

to those whose motives are decent.

But when people become crooked,

the Lord will lead them away with troublemakers.

Let there be peace in Israel!

Psalm 125:title–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Title A song of ascents.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion.

It cannot be shaken; it remains forever.

Jerusalem—the mountains surround her.

And the Lord surrounds His people,

both now and forever.

The scepter of the wicked will not remain

over the land allotted to the righteous,

so that the righteous will not apply their hands to injustice.

Do what is good, Lord, to the good,

to those whose hearts are upright.

But as for those who turn aside to crooked ways,

the Lord will banish them with the evildoers.

Peace be with Israel.

But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways

the Lord will lead away with evildoers.

For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest

on the land of the righteous,

lest the righteous stretch out

Do good, O Yahweh, to the good,

and to those upright in their hearts.

But regarding those who turn aside to their crooked ways,

Yahweh will lead them away with the evildoers.

Psalm 125:title–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Title A song for those who go up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion.

They will always be secure. They will last forever.

Like the mountains around Jerusalem,

the Lord is all around his people

both now and forever.

Evil people will not always rule

the land the Lord gave to those who do right.

If they did, those who do right

might do what is evil.

Lord, do good to those who are good.

Do good to those whose hearts are honest.

But what about those who have taken paths that are crooked?

The Lord will drive them out, along with those who do what is evil.

May Israel enjoy peace.
