“Surely the eyes of the Sovereign Lord

are on the sinful kingdom.

I will destroy it

from the face of the earth.

Yet I will not totally destroy

the descendants of Jacob,”

declares the Lord.

“For I will give the command,

and I will shake the people of Israel

among all the nations

as grain is shaken in a sieve,

and not a pebble will reach the ground.

Amos 9:8–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom,

And I will destroy it from off the face of the earth;

Saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations,

Like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

Amos 9:8–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“I, the Sovereign Lord,

am watching this sinful nation of Israel.

I will destroy it

from the face of the earth.

But I will never completely destroy the family of Israel,”

says the Lord.

“For I will give the command

and will shake Israel along with the other nations

as grain is shaken in a sieve,

yet not one true kernel will be lost.

Amos 9:8–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom,

And I will destroy it from the face of the earth;

Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,”

As grain is sifted in a sieve;

Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.

Amos 9:8–9 — New Century Version (NCV)

I will destroy it

from off the earth,

but I will not completely destroy

Jacob’s descendants,” says the Lord.

“I am giving the command

to scatter the nation of Israel among all nations.

It will be like someone shaking grain through a strainer,

but not even a tiny stone falls through.

Amos 9:8–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Behold, the eyes of the Lord Jehovah are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; save that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith Jehovah. For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations, like as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least kernel fall upon the earth.

Amos 9:8–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Behold, the eyes of the Lord Jehovah are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth: only that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith Jehovah. For behold, I command, and I will shake the house of Israel to and fro among all the nations, like as one shaketh corn in a sieve; yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

Amos 9:8–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

I, the Almighty Lord, have my eyes on this sinful kingdom.

I will wipe it off the face of the earth.

But I won’t totally destroy the descendants of Jacob, declares the Lord

I’m going to give the order.

I will sift the nation of Israel out of all the nations

as if I were using a sieve.

Not one pebble will fall to the ground.

Amos 9:8–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Look, the eyes of the Lord God

are on the sinful kingdom,

and I will destroy it

from the face of the earth.

However, I will not totally destroy

the house of Jacob —

this is the Lord’s declaration—

for I am about to give the command,

and I will shake the house of Israel

among all the nations,

as one shakes a sieve,

but not a pebble will fall to the ground.

Amos 9:8–9 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

The eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom,

and I will destroy it from the face of the earth

For lo, I will command,

and shake the house of Israel among all the nations

as one shakes with a sieve,

but no pebble shall fall to the ground.

Amos 9:8–9 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Look, the eyes of my Lord Yahweh are on the kingdom of sin, and I will destroy it from the surface of the earth. My eyes are watching the sinful kingdom of Israel.

I will wipe it off the face of the earth.

“I will give an order.

I will shake the people of Israel

among all of the nations.

They will be like grain that is shaken through a screen.

Not a pebble will fall to the ground.

Amos 9:8–9 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom,

And I will destroy it from the face of the earth;

And I will shake the house of Israel among all nations

As grain is shaken in a sieve,

But not a kernel will fall to the ground.
