3 and bring all the people back to you. The death of the man you seek will mean the return of all; all the people will be unharmed.” 4 This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the elders of Israel.

5 But Absalom said, “Summon also Hushai the Arkite, so we can hear what he has to say as well.”

3 And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace. 4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel. 5 Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

3 and I will bring all the people back to you as a bride returns to her husband. After all, it is only one man’s life that you seek. Then you will be at peace with all the people.” 4 This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the elders of Israel.

5 But then Absalom said, “Bring in Hushai the Arkite. Let’s see what he thinks about this.”

3 Then I will bring back all the people to you. When all return except the man whom you seek, all the people will be at peace.” 4 And the saying pleased Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

5 Then Absalom said, “Now call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear what he says too.”

3 Then I’ll bring everyone back to you. If the man you are looking for is dead, everyone else will return safely.” 4 This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the leaders of Israel.

5 But Absalom said, “Now call Hushai the Arkite, so I can hear what he says.”

3 and I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace. 4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

5 Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

The man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: all the people shall be in peace. 4 And the saying was right in the eyes of Absalom, and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel. 5 And Absalom said, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and we will hear also what he says.

3 I’ll return all the people to you as a bride is returned to her husband. Since you will be seeking the life of only one man,all the people will have peace.” 4 Absalom and all the leaders of Israel approved this plan. 

5 Absalom said, “Please call Hushai, who is descended from Archi’s family, and let us hear what he, too, has to say.” 

3 and bring all the people back to you. When everyone returns except the man you’re seeking, all the people will be at peace.” 4 This proposal seemed good to Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

5 Then Absalom said, “Summon Hushai the Archite also. Let’s hear what he has to say as well.”

3 and I will bring all the people back to you as a bride comes home to her husband. You seek the life of only one man, and all the people will be at peace.” 4 The advice pleased Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

5 Then Absalom said, “Call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear too what he has to say.”

3 Then I will return all the people to you; when all have returned, the man whom you are seeking will be dead, but all the people will be safe.” 4 The word was right in the eyes of Absalom and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel. 5 Then Absalom said, “Please call also for Hushai the Arkite, and let us hear what he has to say also.”

3 Bring all of the other people back. After the man you want to kill is dead, everyone else will return to you. And none of the people will be harmed.”

4 Ahithophel’s plan seemed good to Absalom. It also seemed good to all of the elders of Israel.

5 But Absalom said, “Send for Hushai, the Arkite. Then we can find out what he suggests.”

3 and I will bring back all the people to you. The return of everyone depends on the man you seek; then all the people will be at peace.”

4 So the plan pleased Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

5 Then Absalom said, “Now call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear what he has to say.”
