Understanding Teaching was first published in 1968. It was written by Dr. Kenneth O. Gangel, now Professor Emeritus of Christian Education of Dallas Theological Seminary and Director of the Graduate Studies Program at Toccoa Falls College. Understanding Teaching was added to the ETA Classroom Series courses as a replacement for Teaching Techniques, which was authored by Dr. Clarence H. Benson in the 1930s.
