Preface

One of the essential tasks in learning any language is the memorization of vocabulary. Regardless of the language, vocabulary memorization is required of the beginning, intermediate, and advanced student. Ideally, the study of vocabulary should focus on high frequency words but, in the setting of most language courses, it is not always possible for a student to learn only frequency vocabulary. Nevertheless, the gradual mastery of the most common words in Hebrew is an essential part in becoming proficient with this biblical language. This guide helps seminary and Christian college students learn relevant Hebrew vocabulary conceptually. Grouping Hebrew vocabulary in three basic consonants this guide contains:

• All words occurring ten times or more in the Hebrew Bible in descending order of frequency

• Primary roots and all words derived from roots occurring ten times or more
