Treasures from Scripture Series
This Book is Dedicated to the Life of Dr. Lehman Strauss 1911–1997
Lehman Strauss was a well known Bible teacher and writer in the United States. He was the teacher on the national weekly broadcast, “Bible Study Time.” Dr. Strauss taught Old Testament history for eight years at Philadelphia Bible Institute and served as the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Bristol, Pennsylvania, from 1939 to 1957. He was the pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church in Highland Park, Michigan until the end of 1963, when he resigned to devote full time to an itinerant Bible-conference ministry in America and the UK.
I had the wonderful privilege to hear Dr. Strauss preach when I was a teenage preacher boy at Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, Illinois. His books have been a big influence and a huge blessing to me in the preparation of my messages and in gaining knowledge of the Scriptures, especially the books of Daniel, Revelation, James, Philippians, Galatians, and Ephesians. He was a great expository preacher and author and I highly recommend his practical and quality books to anyone who has a thirst to learn the Word of God and feed on the meat of the Scriptures.
My dear friend, counselor, and professor, Dr. J. Arnold Fair, was a good friend of Lehman Strauss. They went to college and were in classes together. Dr. Fair said, “Whether as a superb student, Bible teacher, a beloved Pastor, an earnest evangelist, or a conference speaker, his love for Christ and His Word was infectious. He lived a godly life. I remember a statement he made in a Pastor’s question-and-answer session which typified his Christian life: ‘Brethren, if I have to err, I want to err on the side of holiness.’ Lehman’s friendship was inspiring, his love for Christ was catching, and his preaching and teaching were stimulating and practical.”
I am grateful to the Lord that Dr. Strauss has shared with all of us his knowledge of Scripture in his books. He has a part in my own ministry because of what I have learned from his writings. Even though he is with the Lord, his ministry continues to disciple Christians and teach them the Word. He being dead, yet speaketh. May we all learn from his example of faithfulness, love, and service to Jesus Christ.
Thank You Lincoln Land Baptist Church
It has been again a wonderful delight and joy to be able to bring these studies to you. They were preached at Lincoln Land Baptist Church in 2000–2003. I want to express my gratitude and love to my wonderful church family for their love, encouragement, spiritual maturity, ...
