This analytical lexicon owes a debt of gratitude to a number of scholars and experts that we have had the privilege of working with in the past.

First and foremost of these is Vincent Setterholm. His untiring and exacting efforts in the segmentation and lemmatization of the Hebrew Bible data went into the creation of the Lexham Hebrew Bible and are the basis of this lexicon. The glosses for every lemma in this lexicon were derived from the Lexham Hebrew Interlinear (edited by Christo van der Merwe).

We must also thank the editors of the Bible Sense Lexicon data contained herein. Jeremy Thompson and David Witthoff catalogued and categorized every verb, noun, adjective and adverb in the Hebrew Bible according to their senses, and Mark Keaton assisted this curation. Jeremy Thompson also served as consulting editor of the project.

Last but not least were those who facilitated the alignment of the Septuagint Greek to the Hebrew Text: Chip McDaniel and Rick Brannan.

Introduction

The Lexham Analytical Lexicon of the Hebrew Bible is a new lexicon to aid your study of the Hebrew Old Testament. Every Hebrew and Aramaic lemma used in the Lexham Hebrew Bible is included as an entry in this volume. As a resource exclusive to Logos Bible Software, this powerful tool can be used alongside the many other features in the software, making it the first analytical lexicon of its kind in Hebrew Bible studies.

Leveraging data curated for the Hebrew Bible, we created this analytical lexicon with the following features for every lexical entry:

• The lemma heading in large, easily readable type, including a homograph number where applicable, and the abbreviation “Aram.” when the headword is Aramaic

• The transliterated form of the lemma and formal equivalent gloss, including part of speech and number of times the lemma is used in the Bible

• The lemma’s root form—linked to the entry of the same form, if present—and any cognates of the same root

• Every Bible Sense tagged on the lemma, including definition, Bible references and frequency count (note that some entries may lack Bible Senses, especially for any proper nouns, prepositions, and other particles)

• Every Greek lemma corresponding to the Hebrew lemma as found in the Septuagint, including definition, Bible reference, and frequency count

• A comprehensive table of all morphological inflections of the lemma, the parsing and frequency of the inflection (with morphological description on hover), and a link back to the lemma headword

Additionally, there is a helpful section at the end of the resource grouping all lemmas by frequency, starting with all lemmas occurring more than 2,500 times, down to lemmas occurring only once.
