About This Edition
This is a beta edition of the Lexham Dead Sea Scrolls Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible (DSSI). The text supplied in this beta edition, while stable, is still under review.
Conventions
The whole of the Hebrew Bible is not witnessed by the scrolls and fragments found at Qumran. Some areas have only fragmentary coverage, other areas have nearly complete coverage. To represent the text of the Hebrew Bible using the textual data available from Qumran, the following conventions are followed:
• If a verse is not witnessed in the Qumran material at all, it is not included in this interlinear.
• If any portion of a verse is witnessed in the Qumran material, then the material is included in this interlinear.
• Each interlinear cell provides a source attribution, prominently displaying the source of the reading.
• Missing portions of a verse are represented as much as possible by supplementing with the text of the Lexham Hebrew Bible (LHB). Any time the LHB text is included, it is bracketed. When the LHB text is used for a complete interlinear cell, the text of that cell is rendered in light gray.
• When multiple witnesses for a given word spelling are available, and when these witnesses differ in presence/absence or consonants, a note with the alternative orthography (and LHB orthography) is included.
Future Work
We plan to improve this preliminary edition of DSSI in the future by reviewing and correcting where certain data are presently lacking. This includes supplying lemma, morphology, and gloss data where needed. We also hope to provide more information regarding variation within the biblical material witnessed in these manuscripts.

Introduction
The text witnessed in the Lexham Dead Sea Scrolls Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible (DSSI) is a composite of the various biblical Dead Sea Scroll resources.
Overview of the Dead Sea Scrolls
The label “Dead Sea Scrolls” refers to the manuscripts discovered in the Judean desert since 1947, including Qumran, Wadi Daliyeh, Wadi Murabba`at, Naḥal Ḥever, Naḥal Ṣe'elim, and Masada. The biblical manuscripts included in in this resource were written in Hebrew and Aramaic mainly on leather.
Significance
In Timothy Lim’s 2005 introduction to the Scrolls, they are called “the greatest manuscript discovery of the 20th century for Jewish studies of the Second Temple Period and biblical studies.” The biblical manuscripts contribute in major ways to our understanding of the textual history of the Hebrew Bible.
