Whoever seeks will praise ∙ We set our hope on your name ∙ We pray to stir up devotion
Praise You for Your Attributes
To the Lord, the true life ∙ Your word is like a mirror ∙ Great protector, you are blessed forever ∙ Who do I love when I love you, Lord? ∙ Praise for the indescribable ∙ You give life to the lifeless ∙ In you we are complete ∙ Come, Fountain of Light ∙ What do we call you?
We bow before the Holy One ∙ Glory to you for ages to come ∙ I pray to the Father unapproachable ∙ I owe my life to your mercy ∙ That we may know you
The third day has returned ∙ I long for you, Savior ∙ A prayer to the creator Christ ∙ I cannot help but worship you ∙ May I sing for you? ∙ You showed your healing power ∙ Hymn of heaven, take my song ∙ A blessing for the One ∙ Your truth stands firm ∙ Brook of heaven, you spring from yourself!
Merciful Creator, you give us life ∙ All creation sings your praises ∙ You made it all good ∙ Creation sings in praise ∙ Reverence brings about faith
We bow our souls and bodies to you ∙ Cleanse us with your truth ∙ Wash the footsteps of my soul ∙ Help us to forgive others
I need the fire ∙ You invite us to repent ∙ By your grace I mourn ∙ We have sinned, Lord ∙ Come to my grave and heal ∙ I will sit at your table ∙ To whom should I cry, but to you? ∙ Heal all our bones ∙ Receive me again ∙ Grant us to learn repentance ∙ Jesus, have I loved less?
I waited too long ∙ Our sins bring deep grief ∙ Your good medicine heals
We Thank You for Life and Blessings
You have given me joy, Lord ∙ We offer you our firstfruits ∙ In creation, show us the Creator ∙ Keep us faithful to your truth ∙ We reap the everlasting fruit of your goodness ∙ You are the breath of heaven
About Fount of Heaven: Prayers of the Early ChurchThe hearts of the first Christians beat with praise for Christ. The strength of their devotion is remarkable, considering the times of uncertainty and persecution in which they lived. Despite all of this, the early church flourished, sustained by the God to whom they prayed. Christians today have a lot to learn from the devotional life of the early church. In Fount of Heaven, a collection of carefully selected prayers from the first six centuries of the church, we can pray with our spiritual forefathers. Prayers from luminaries such as Clement of Rome, Irenaeus, and Augustine are arranged by theme to reveal the right prayer for the moment. The prayers have been slightly updated to read more easily, but they retain their joy and mystery. As we turn to the prayers of the first Christians, we can return to the foundations of our own faith. |
