In The Gospel of John, Dr. Amy-Jill Levine (who prefers to go by “AJ”) asks probing questions of several stories from the Gospel of John—and of her readers. AJ engages stories of Jesus’s encounters with various people, from his mother at a wedding in Cana to Mary Magdalene and Thomas after his resurrection, asking these texts, and those reading them with her, how these stories offer new insights into who Jesus was and is, and what following him today looks like (or ought to look like).
