Introduction

Life is a journey and the journey begins the moment the male sperm fertilizes the female egg. No human embryo is either aware of, or concerned with what is happening to it, or around it. Nevertheless, even though we don’t have the capacity to comprehend this marvelous event, much less care about it, every life journey begins this way. Cell divisions, tissues, organs, and bones bombard the human body and in due time life’s train comes barreling down the tracks, with a special engraved invitation to climb aboard.

Before we do so, suddenly and without warning, chaos comes roaring along, and we must wave goodbye to what was and no longer is. No more floating around in the calming and soothing waters that once engulfed us, inviting us to take joy in our surrounding peacefulness. The once wave-less waters fiercely erupt, propelling us toward a brilliant and awesome light. The soothing and rhythmic beat of tranquility that once filled our ears, quickly vanishes and is replaced by a fierce struggle to breathe. A soft tap swats our lower body and we protest with loud wailings. Life begins with the loss of what was and no longer is. We climb aboard life’s train ...

About The Treasures of Darkness: When What Was No Longer Is

Has there ever been a time in your life when you had to leave everything you have ever known and rush headlong into something not known, not wanted by you? At such times, all of us experience deep fears, doubts, and horrifying anxieties. We don't know which way to turn. All we want to do is go back to what was and no longer is.

Mourning is a non-illuminated place. We don't want to experience it, especially for long periods of time. It's the blackest of black, the darkest of dark, and the gravest of grave. It is a place most of us would just as soon not visit. But if we don't go there and allowing ourselves to go there is a choice then we would never experience the rich treasures embedded within its solemn dreariness.
