In the midst of the millennial fever that gripped the world in 1999 and 2000, few people realized that the new millennium would actually begin on January 1, 2001. For Christians, this anniversary is special because it marks the 2,000 years of Christian history. But for millions of Pentecostal and charismatic Christians, this anniversary also marks the completion of 100 years of Pentecostal and charismatic renewal.

The title of this book, The Century of the Holy Spirit, summarizes what is generally recognized as the most important religious movement of the entire twentieth century. Beginning with a handful of students in Topeka, Kansas, on New Year’s Day, 1901, Christians around the world have experienced a renewal of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that dwarfs anything seen since the days of the early church.
