About this Version
Bible translation is a difficult form of secondary communication that involves much more than replacing one set of codes (that of the Hebrew and Aramaic source texts) with that of their English equivalents. Furthermore, to fully appreciate a specific Bible translation, it is important to understand what that translation wants to accomplish. The aim of this substantial revision of The Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear (LHI) is to break the semantic barrier of the Hebrew and Aramaic text for users in a manner as academically justified as possible.
The LHI does not purport to be perfect in that it does not address the text-critical problems posed by the source texts. As well, the gloss or translation equivalent of any ancient text can at most be tentative. Nevertheless, the LHI attempts to introduce the reader to concepts of the Biblical world. Users are encouraged to use it critically alongside other resources that deal with the Hebrew text and ancient world—grammars, lexica, translations, commentaries as well as theological and Bible dictionaries. When using all of these tools, users will discover that Bible translation and interpretation is an everlasting and exciting discovery of new meaning and translation options.

About The Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear BibleThe Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible is a new breed of interlinear, designed for electronic reference and based on the latest linguistic research. Rather than present a single gloss for each Hebrew word, it will take advantage of the digital medium and offer multiple layers of English glosses that reflect the complexity of biblical Hebrew language structure.
