The Near East Archaeological Society was founded in 1957 by evangelical archaeologists desiring to encourage archaeological discussions through professional meetings, research, and publications. We strive to broaden dialog within the archaeological community by stressing the value of the Bible. We view the Bible as a useful and truthful ancient record that can help in understanding the backgrounds, material culture and historical episodes of the Israelites and those with whom they associated. Members of the Near East Archaeological Society subscribe to either of the following statements of faith:

“The Bible alone and the Bible in its entirety is the Word of God written, and therefore inerrant in the autographs.”

“I believe in the unique Divine Inspiration, Integrity, and Authority of the Bible.”

Institutional members and those who choose to be “supporting associates” pay the same dues, receive the same benefits, but are not voting members of the society and are not required to subscribe to either of the statements of faith. The Near East Archaeological Society encourages dialog with, and attendance from, all spectrums of scholarship at our sessions.
