INTRODUCTION
In 2014 Kathy Barnett and I coauthored The Warrior's Bride: Biblical Strategies to Help the Military Spouse Thrive. The book went to press, and word began to spread about this wonderful new resource written by two military wives.
While we are very happy with the book, we realized shortly after its release that we forgot to mention a couple of topics near to the hearts of many military families. After a lot of prayer and some discussion, we decided that instead of taking another year to write a second book, we would simply write additional chapters and release them individually. This not only allows us to get the chapters to you more quickly, but it also gives you the option to pick and choose only those chapters that affect you directly.
We plan to release six of these eBook shorts, one every three months during 2015 and the first half of 2016. For the first time, we'll be tackling reintegration and retirement, and we'll be going into more depth on problems with extended family, moving, finances, and dealing with other military spouses.
We pray that as you read, God speaks to your heart and gives you great wisdom for your situation.
When you are done reading, we'd love to know what you think! You can leave a review for the book, email us, or send us a note through social media. It would be a great encouragement to us to hear from you. Thank you!
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

About Your Extended Family: A Military Spouse’s Biblical Guide to Surviving Within and Without Your FamilFamily. They can be one of our biggest blessings and one of our biggest stressors. Family members that don’t understand the military system can complicate your life, and sometimes the best-intentioned relative can undercut everything you are trying to build with your husband. Living far away can also be hard if you have a medical emergency. Deployments and high ops tempos give loneliness and depression the opportunity can take over. Are there really any practical answers? What does the Bible say about dealing with and living apart from family. |
