Dedication

This book is dedicated to all of our education leadership partners in our neighboring colleges and universities across Kentucky, the Kentucky Department of Education’s school leadership support team, our education cooperatives and other education leadership support agencies, and our school administrators in P-12 down in the trenches. The abundance of talented and caring school leaders we have across this state is such a blessing.

A special “thank you” to Dr. Eve Proffitt and Dr. Stephanie Sullivan, whose tireless giving of several days of their summer to contribute in major ways to the editing of this book made all the difference.

About School Improvement: Let the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders Work for You

This book is a descriptive treatment of the Professional Standards for Education Leaders (PSEL), developed by several professors in Kentucky who teach graduate ed leadership courses, and their colleagues at the Kentucky Department of Education. PSEL has been adopted by the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board as the leadership standards that drive instruction and practice. This resource is an excellent guide for any school leader, as it breaks down PSEL, and follows with bulleted examples and scenarios that illustrate ‘best practice’ in serving a school effectively and creating a culture of school improvement.
