One may question whether Matthew occasionally uses the pl. “with special reference to those in the community who witness, instruct and teach” (Hill, “ΔΙΚΑΙΟΙ,” 302). If Matthew transfers the adj. to Christians (10:41; 13:49), this is associated with his “leading concept” → δικαιοσύνη (5). The adj. is attributed to the following persons (on Jesus → c): Joseph (Matt 1:19; δίκαιος ὤν is perhaps concessive:
