Job 11:13–19

13 “If only you would prepare your heart

and lift up your hands to him in prayer!

14 Get rid of your sins,

and leave all iniquity behind you.

15 Then your face will brighten with innocence.

You will be strong and free of fear.

16 You will forget your misery;

it will be like water flowing away.

17 Your life will be brighter than the noonday.

Even darkness will be as bright as morning.

18 Having hope will give you courage.

You will be protected and will rest in safety.

19 You will lie down unafraid,

and many will look to you for help.

13 “Yet if you devote your heart to him

and stretch out your hands to him,

14 if you put away the sin that is in your hand

and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,

15 then, free of fault, you will lift up your face;

you will stand firm and without fear.

16 You will surely forget your trouble,

recalling it only as waters gone by.

17 Life will be brighter than noonday,

and darkness will become like morning.

18 You will be secure, because there is hope;

you will look about you and take your rest in safety.

19 You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid,

and many will court your favor.

and let not injustice dwell in your tents.

15 Surely then you will lift up your face without blemish;

you will be secure and will not fear.

16 You will forget your misery;

you will remember it as waters that have passed away.

17 And your life will be brighter than the noonday;

its darkness will be like the morning.

18 And you will feel secure, because there is hope;

you will look around and take your rest in security.

19 You will lie down, and none will make you afraid;

many will court your favor.

Job 11:13–19 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

13 If thou prepare thine heart,

And stretch out thine hands toward him;

14 If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away,

And let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

15 For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot;

Yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery,

And remember it as waters that pass away:

17 And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday;

Thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope;

Yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid;

Yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

Job 11:13–19 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

13 “If you would prepare your heart,

And stretch out your hands toward Him;

14 If iniquity were in your hand, and you put it far away,

And would not let wickedness dwell in your tents;

15 Then surely you could lift up your face without spot;

Yes, you could be steadfast, and not fear;

16 Because you would forget your misery,

And remember it as waters that have passed away,

17 And your life would be brighter than noonday.

Though you were dark, you would be like the morning.

18 And you would be secure, because there is hope;

Yes, you would dig around you, and take your rest in safety.

19 You would also lie down, and no one would make you afraid;

Yes, many would court your favor.

and hold out your hands to him for help.

14 Put away the sin that is in your hand;

let no evil remain in your tent.

15 Then you can lift up your face without shame,

and you can stand strong without fear.

16 You will forget your trouble

and remember it only as water gone by.

17 Your life will be as bright as the noonday sun,

and darkness will seem like morning.

18 You will feel safe because there is hope;

you will look around and rest in safety.

19 You will lie down, and no one will scare you.

Many people will want favors from you.

Job 11:13–19 — American Standard Version (ASV)

15 Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot;

Yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

16 For thou shalt forget thy misery;

Thou shalt remember it as waters that are passed away,

17 And thy life shall be clearer than the noonday;

Though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.

18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope;

Yea, thou shalt search about thee, and shalt take thy rest in safety.

19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid;

Yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

13 If thou prepare thy heart and stretch out thy hands toward him, 14 If thou put far away the iniquity which is in thy hand, and let not wrong dwell in thy tents; 15 Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot, and thou shalt be stedfast and shalt not fear: 16 For thou shalt forget misery; as waters that are passed away shalt thou remember it; 17 And life shall arise brighter than noonday; though thou be enshrouded in darkness, thou shalt be as the morning, 18 And thou shalt have confidence, because there shall be hope; and having searched about thee, thou shalt take rest in safety. 19 Yea, thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; and many shall seek thy favour.

Job 11:13–19 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

13 “If you want to set your heart right,

then pray to him.

14 If you’re holding on to sin, put it far away,

and don’t let injustice live in your tent.

15 Then you will be able to show your face without being ashamed,

and you will be secure and unafraid.

16 ⸤Then⸥ you will forget your misery

and remember it like water that has flowed downstream.

17 Then your life will be brighter than the noonday sun.

The darkness in your life will become like morning.

18 You will feel confident because there’s hope,

and you will look around and rest in safety.

19 You will lie down with no one to frighten you,

and many people will try to gain your favor.

and lift up your hands to Him in prayer—

and don’t allow injustice to dwell in your tents—

15 then you will hold your head high, free from fault.

You will be firmly established and unafraid.

16 For you will forget your suffering,

recalling it only as waters that have flowed by.

17 Your life will be brighter than noonday;

its darkness will be like the morning.

18 You will be confident, because there is hope.

You will look carefully about and lie down in safety.

19 You will lie down without fear,

and many will seek your favor.

13 “If you direct your heart rightly,

you will stretch out your hands toward him.

you will be secure, and will not fear.

16 You will forget your misery;

you will remember it as waters that have passed away.

17 And your life will be brighter than the noonday;

its darkness will be like the morning.

18 And you will have confidence, because there is hope;

you will be protected and take your rest in safety.

19 You will lie down, and no one will make you afraid;

many will entreat your favor.

and you must not let wickedness reside in your tents—

15 surely then you will lift up your face without blemish,

and you will be firmly established and will not fear.

16 For you yourself will forget your misery;

you will remember it as water that has flowed past.

17 “And your life will be brighter than noon;

its darkness will be like the morning.

18 And you will have confidence because there is hope;

and you will be well protected—you will sleep in safety.

Don’t let anything that is evil stay in your tent.

15 Then you can face others without feeling any shame.

You can stand firm without being afraid.

16 You can be sure you will forget your troubles.

They will be like water that has flowed on by.

17 Life will be brighter than the sun at noon.

And darkness will become like morning.

18 You will be secure, because there is hope.

You will look around you and find a safe place to rest.

19 You will lie down, and no one will make you afraid.

Many people will want you to show them your favor.

13 If you would direct your heart right

And spread out your hand to Him,

14 If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away,

And do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;

15 Then, indeed, you could lift up your face without moral defect,

And you would be steadfast and not fear.

16 “For you would forget your trouble,

As waters that have passed by, you would remember it.

17 “Your life would be brighter than noonday;

Darkness would be like the morning.

18 “Then you would trust, because there is hope;

And you would look around and rest securely.

19 “You would lie down and none would disturb you,

And many would entreat your favor.
